\\ SMBR™ TECHNOLOGY

Suspended Media Biological Reactor is a high performance, simple and cost-efficient fixed film biological wastewater treatment process.

SMBR™ is particularly well suited to treat high or variable loads, such as in industrial effluents, food plants, landfill site leachate and petro-chemical wastewater. The PeenoxTM media allows for more fixed biomass to grow per cubic meter of basin volume. This leads to a robust biomass that can degrade exceptional range of molecules in various loading rate. Bottom line, it increases the capacityto meet more stringent requirements for BOD, ammonia and even other exotic parameters.

The Peenox™ media, made of high density polyethylene (HDPE), offers

a very large protected surface on which the fixed biomass grows. The presence of this fixed

biomass permits increased loading rate, allowing the treatment of larger quantities of soluble pollution per cubic meter of bioreactor volume than most other conventional technologies. A coarse bubble aeration system provides mixing and oxygenation in the bioreactor while screens are used to retain the media inside the basin.
