What a busy and remarkable term it has been. The children have
been provided with so many wonderful opportunities in which
they have been able to thrive and shine. Our little learners have
been involved in soccer, rugby, touch footy, the K – 2 concert, NAI-
DOC week celebrations, 2 Bob Radio, public speaking, a Maths
Challenge Day for Stage 3 students, the trip to Canberra and a visit
to the high school for Science and Engineering and much more. A
priority for us here at Old Bar Public School is that all of our learn-
ers are able to participate in activities that they are interested in
and that give them joy. This contributes to keeping them highly en-
gaged and igniting passion. I am deeply grateful to all of our hard
working and talented teachers for all they do in making this hap-
pen.
How magical was our K – 2 concert ‘In Our Backyard’? We got to go
back in time, under the sea, on safari, on our scooters, up into
space and into the jungle. The children’s creativity and enthusiasm
were wonderful, and their imaginations were given the chance to
flourish. I could not contain my smile from the moment our gor-
geous leaders Hope, Egan, Ava and Toby made their introductions
until the very end of the show. The music, the choreography and
dancing, the props, the costumes, the movies and memories…. and
the dazzling smiles. It was just beautiful. The children’s items were
‘big’ and I was so impressed by just how much choreography our
little 5, 6, 7 and 8 year old were actually able to remember. Our K
– 2 teachers worked tirelessly to prepare the children for their con-
cert. I would like to thank Mrs Miller for the outstanding job she
did leading and organising the production. I don’t know if she’s ac-
tually slept this term!!! We are so proud of our little stars and no
doubt many of you are eagerly waiting for your DVDs.
DEPUTY PRINCIPAL’S REPORT CONTINUED
Well…… it is finally happening. The new building is on track to be completed during the holidays. At
this stage hand over will be on the 4th of October. Every time I go over and have a walk through the
building it looks even more spectacular. All of our Stage 2 (Year 3 and 4) classes and 6H and 6B will
be moving into the new building at the beginning of next term. Our plan is that teachers and their
classes will take the first two weeks of Term 4 to become familiar with the space and gradually move
across to take up ‘permanent residency’ from the beginning of Week 3. We are also planning to give
all classes across the school the opportunity to walk through their new building during the first two
weeks and an afternoon during Week 1 when we will invite parents and community members in to
have a look. The details for this will be provided in due course. We all feel very lucky to now have
this very special space as part of our school. The environment in which children learn is very im-
portant and to now be able to provide this state of the art learning space, fit for the 21st Century, is
very exciting.
I hope that you and the children all have a really great holiday that includes lots of fun, some relaxa-
tion and lots of time with your very special children. I come to school every single day feeling so
blessed that I get to spend my days with such awesome little humans.

take place during week 5 & 6 next

Year 6 students will be attending a high school orientation day at Taree High School
on Tuesday 15 October.
This is a fun and exciting day where students will meet new friends and begin
learning to find their way around the high school.

their year 6 teachers in the hall to begin orientation.
Students should wear their primary school sports uniform, and bring a hat and
drink bottle. A BBQ lunch will be provided, and access to the canteen is available.
Students will be dismissed from the hall at 3:10pm.

IT’S NOT JUST THE MUSIC AT THE AKOOSTIK FESTIVAL …
The countdown is on for the 13th annual Wingham Akoostik Festival on October 18-20 with 30 acts across two main stages, 20
stalls and a whole lot more to keep the whole family entertained.
At the top of the “Akoo To Do” program are the BackTrack Boys who are visiting with the Dog Jump team. For those that have
seen the film BackTrack Boys which had its premiere at the Sydney Film Festival in June 2018 meeting the Boys and their dogs
will be something really special. The story follows a group of troubled boys and their dogs. The BackTrack Youth Works Paws
Up program centres around animal behavioural therapy which promotes self-moderating behaviours, leadership and self-
confidence. The Boys invite people who have their dogs at the festival to give them a go at jumping alongside the Backtrack
dogs.
Another must To Do is watch the Circartus performance troupe, featuring 16 young circus artists presenting aerials, acrobatics
and tumbling in the natural Amphitheatre of the Circoostik Arena.
The “Akoosti-Kids” area features craft activities, beading, art, water, sand and sensory play, reading, puzzles and games., face
and body painting, Lego and Knex table, clay play and mini murals.
For those wanting to learn an environmental trick or two head along to “Talkin Compost” with permaculture specialist Megan
Cooke and “Making Bees Wraps” with Chelsea Hands.
Be inspired by those who have mastered their art with Belly Dancing and a Spinners and Weavers display and a Mineral Muse-
um to explore.
