Dear Members,
We had a lot of successful events on Jan & Feb -
We’re growing bigger - more new faces join ‘Little Ones’ at Central Nursery. Welcome to new members!
A lot of people came to Carsington Water pram walk!
Interesting talks about weaning & Deafblind Awareness
Very sorry to people who received Jan & Feb 2009 newsletter so late from Social Services. It seems better to directly give us your mailing details.
Please ask Gene for your photo permission form—don’t forget to include your email address & mobile text number so we can update you regularly!
We have planned a lot of exciting events this Spring—have a look! Happy Easter to you all!
Love, the Committee!

GOODBYE TO JANNA!
It is on 28th April at Central Nursery 1-3pm. Please come &
support us! It is important—We need all of your votes & feedback. We will give a summary talk of what has been happening with DSF 1st then do votes.
Remember DSF is for you all. If you are not happy with anything, please tell us!
Anyone who is interested to join the committee, please come to A.G.M. We look forward to seeing you there!

Happy Birthday!!
2 Signing families turned up on 18th January at Tissington Trail—brave them to put up with cold freezing weather, but they enjoyed the walk, picnic and chat-ting to each other—took 2 hours! So they were happy to see more families joining at 2nd Pram walk at Carsington Water on 15th Feb. Some went for a short walk, some just want to feed the ducks & played on the adventure playgroup. Brill Day out!
WINTER PRAM WALKS
Due to popular crèche, it can get full. So please arrive early at 12.30pm! We got funding only for 3 crèche workers until April 2009. Don’t worry, we’re working with Stephanie of Central Nursery to look at the idea of having 1 more extra crèche worker, need to apply for more funding.
CRECHE
Sadly, Sally is leaving DSF as she want to focus on her work at Children’s Hospital - We will miss her as she has been a brill health visitor with good Deaf awareness. We will have a new health visitor called Catherine starting now, she is more updated with recent training.
NEW HEALTH VISITOR
NEW PRICES Thanks to Central Nursery funding, we can offer you FREE crèche & snacks now! So new entry price per parent is £1. 1st time visit to Central Nursery by new parents or support workers / carers with Deaf parents will go FREE. This helps us to raise money for holiday trips with little ones —like reduced prices for zoo if you go ‘Little Ones’ regularly or help with minibus hire cost.

Deaf/Hearing Families
The reason we develop two groups is because we had feedback from Deaf parents who their kids are at school or working parents and they can’t be involved in the ‘Little ones’ on Tuesdays. Kidzone will be happening at weekends and at holiday terms – suit children of all ages. There are lots of Signing families living in Derby/Derbyshire… it is great to bring everyone together! It is yours not ours! We would appreciate your ideas/feedback. Talk face to face or email Helen Phillips – [email protected]
