Week 1: May 31-June 3 Cooking Around the World (Grades K-5) Join us for a week of art, games and cooking that will engage children as they become chefs and embark on the adventures of culinary cuisine! Campers will take an imaginary trip around the world to a different country each day where they will learn about the culture and prepare foods that are native to that country. It will be a week of world-wide travel and excitement! Lead Instructor: Cherie Lee Movie Making Mania (Grades 3-8) Campers will learn how to put together movies from start to finish. All the essential filmmaking skills will be covered from generating an idea and storyboarding, to shooting, acting, and editing on imovie and even how to output our movie to DVD. By the end of the week the campers will have worked together to make a short movie in its entirety and will receive their own copy of the movie. Lead Instructor: Nate Terry Week 2: June 6-10 Broadway Boot Camp (Grades K-8) Have you been waiting for your chance to be on stage? Join us for Broadway Boot Camp, where campers will have the opportunity to learn all about what it takes to put on a Broadway production. Campers will practice acting, singing, and dancing while learning about the audition process, improvisation, monologues, sets, costumes, and what happens backstage in a show. The week will include songs and scenes from popular musicals such as Matilda, Annie, The Little Mermaid, and more. Family and friends are invited at the end of the week to watch campers perform favorite musical numbers and scenes. Lead Instructor: Stefanie Spruill Lego Minds (Grades K-5) Campers will enjoy creating individual projects as well as an on-going collaborative project which will be built through the duration of the camp. Along the way, campers will use their love of Legos to learn about architecture, Lego trivia and history, construction techniques, the importance of written and verbal instructions, and working together in a group setting. Lead Instructor: Nate Terry Basketball Camp (Grades K-5) Basketball Skills is designed for participants interested in taking their basketball knowledge and skills to the next level. Campers will spend time each day in drills, practice games, and strengthening skills in shooting, dribbling, passing, footwork and playing defense.Whether this is their first time holding a basketball or they have played basketball for years, campers will be challenged and engaged in the fundamentals of the sport. Lead Instructor: Marlene Jeter Week 3: June 13-17 Broadway Bound: Seussical the Musical (Grades K-8) “Oh, the thinks you can think!” Join Horton, the Whos, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie LaBird, and of course, The Cat in the Hat, while we explore the world of Dr. Seuss in Seussical the Musical! This week will be full of musical theater fun as we play acting and improvisation games and rehearse scenes and songs from the show. At the end of the week, campers will perform favorite musical numbers and scenes for family and friends. Lead Instructor: Stefanie Spruill Wildlife Wonders (Grades K-5) Wildlife Wonders is…Wild! Each day campers will experience wonderful wildlife (yes, LIVE animals) and explore various habitats. We will have two days for reptiles, two days for birds and one day for mammals. Steven Hughes is a naturalist, a commissioned wildlife artist and a Master Falconer who was also instrumental in the development of the Carolina Raptor Center. Lead Instructor: Steven Hughes Volleyball Skills (Grades 3-8) Come join us for a week of volleyball fun! Each day will consist of learning the fundamentals of the game as well as a chance to play the game. Volleyball is a fast growing sport here in the Carolinas so get a jump start on the game and come join us! It doesn’t matter if you’ve played for years or you are a beginner, we will get everyone learning and playing the game of volleyball. Week 4: June 20-24 American Girl (Grades K-5) Girls Only!! Campers will go back in time and meet a few of our favorite American Girls like Felicity, Rebecca, Kaya and more. We’ll even get to learn about Lea,the 2016 doll of the year! Each day girls will enjoy acting out stories, learning dances and creating crafts from each special era. Campers will dress up and have a tea party with their dolls on Thursday. On Friday, family and friends are invited to join campers for a time of sharing. Lead Instructor: Lighthearted Productions Staff Adventure Days (Grades K-5, Boys Only) Boys Only! Campers will have daily challenges, solve mysteries, go on adventures, and engage in battle. Each day will have a new theme includ-ing the Olympics games and sleuths solving crimes. Campers will play capture the flag and have a marshmallow attack! Boys will work together and use team building skills and their imaginations to create these epic adventures. On Friday, family and friends are invited to join campers to hear about the favorite adventures of the week! Lead Instructor: Lighthearted Productions Staff

Week 5: June 27-July 1 STEM (Grades K-5) Science, Technology, Engineering and Math skills are explored in this exciting camp. Aspiring engineers will get the opportunity to use their creativity to problem solve and determine solutions to engineering challenges. This camp is packed full of science experiments that all children will love. Lead Instructor: Mandy Cheshire

All-Sports (Grades K-5) Like spending the week playing the best PE games ever?! Campers will have fun while naturally developing balance, hand-eye coordination and physical fitness. Days are spent enjoying a wide range of activities that may include relay races, disc golf, baseball, dodgeball, team-building games and water games day. Lead Instructor: Bill Bode

Week 6: July 5-8 Pokemon Experience (Grades K-5) Campers will experience all things Pokemon during this week of camp, including playing the “Pokemon Trivia Game Show.” Campers will partic-ipate in Pokemon-based activities such as “make your own Pokemon” and in the process learn about real animals and their classifications. One day will be dedicated to talking tactics and strategy of the popular game and there will be an opportunity to trade and battle. The week will end with a giant Pokemon tournament with prizes! Heart & Home (Grades 3-8) Campers will learn that hospitality is really a demonstration of the heart. During this week, campers will learn the art of event planning and other skills of hospitality that make homes a fun and warm place to be for both family and friends. Campers will plan an event, design invitations, create decorations, prepare food and host a party for very special guests. This is an experience that campers will remember for a lifetime. Week 7: July 11-15 Artists in Action (Grades K-5) Art is fun and active during this camp! Campers will create art using different mediums and techniques. We will discuss various artists and artistic styles used throughout history. It will be a positive environment where all students will be encouraged to explore the artist within themselves. Campers should dress for days that will creative...and messy! Lead Instructor: Donna Gooch

Kick it Up Karate (Grades K-5) Our karate camp is led by a 4th degree Black Belt in Kempo Karate and Chief Instructor at the Martial Arts Training Institute. Not only do the students learn basic karate skills, but important life skills such as Focus, Confidence, Discipline and Respect. Kids will also learn during the week a little about Japan, karate’s country of origin. Students will learn at their own level, whether this is their first experience or they have taken karate many years. Lead Instructor: Don Newell

Babysitting 101 (Grades 6-8) Starting to babysit? This week is designed to focus on supervising and taking care of children in various babysitting settings. Campers will gain fundamental information in the business of babysitting including proper supervision, basic first aid, care giving skills and responding properly to injured or sick children. Campers will learn games to play with children, do’s and don’ts of the trade, and have fun together all at the same time. Lead Instructor: Veronica Romero

Week 8: July 18-22 Super Silly Science (Grades K-5) Science can be super and silly… and campers still learn a lot! Mad scientists will mix up crazy concoctions throughout the camp. We will learn about scientists in history that were pretty silly themselves. Campers will make experiments including wacky bouncing balls, super bubble ooze and dizzy spinners. Lead Instructor: Mandy Cheshire

DIY -Kid Style (Grades 3-8) Do it yourself! Campers will spend a week creating a variety of decor projects. They will cut, tie, glue, paint and create beautiful pieces throughout the week. We will also be talking about God as the creator of all things and how we can show hospitality to the people we encounter daily. Camp-ers do not need to be “artsy” to create, all are welcomed! Lead Instructor: Veronica Romero

Backyard Games (Grades K-5) Join us for a week of fun and challenging outdoor games! Campers will be learning, practicing and perfecting new skills for some of our favorite backyard games including wiffle ball, badminton, corn hole, croquet, horse shoes and disc golf. The week will conclude with a field trip to Squirrel Lake Park for a round of disc golf. Lead Instructor: Matt Cummings

Week 10: August 1-5 Rock Band (Grades K-5) Ever dream of being in a band? Campers will learn about life in a band and to appreciate the challenges of working together to create and perform for a live audience. CCS music instructors will expose kids to percussion, guitar, keyboard and voice. Campers will choose a primary instrument and use their skills to learn songs from several genres, including contemporary worship music. Odyssey of Mind (Grades 6-8) Odyssey of the Mind is a program that promotes creative thinking by challenging teams to solve divergent problems, or those with more than one solution. Campers will learn that creative solutions come from teamwork, cooperation and risk-taking. The OM program gives students a unique learning experience that is challenging and fun. Whether campers are on a current OM team or this is their first introduction to the OM experience, they will have a blast! Lead Instructor: Mandy Cheshire

Week 11: August 8-12 Parks and Recreation (Grades K-5; off campus) This will be a week like no other! Campers will travel off campus (in church buses or staff vehicles) to the following parks in Charlotte and surrounding areas: Cane Creek Park, Reedy Creek Park, Squirrel Lake Park, and Colonel Francis Beatty Park, and Freedom Park. In addition to visiting these parks, we will have special field trips including a tour of JAARS in Waxhaw, scavenger hunt in Matthews, and the Charlotte Nature Museum. Special camp hours: 8:30-3:30 (off campus); 3:30-5:30 (Extended Day hours-on campus). All students need lunch and a water bottle each day. Snacks will be provided by the camp staff.
