Jan’s parents, Phil and Char Carterstarted the business in 1979 while Janwas away at Long Beach State.After finishing college, Jan had afascinating life – a job with Amtrak,American Airlines and as aphotographer in Australia, all paving theway for her path to the desert, to helpher parents relocate their RanchoMirage store in Indian Wells. “Theyasked me to come for four months…20years ago!” She found herself loving thebusiness and stayed.
