Faculty of CULTURE AND THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES
“The ground-breaking course structure meant I had two top design companies on my CV before I’d graduated.”
John Rushworth, Partner, Pentagram
“The graphic design course at UCLan really prepares you so that you’re ready to tackle anything and I can’t praise the tutors enough for all their help.”
Harriet Richardson, Graphic Design Graduate
“I’ve loved studying at UCLan, it’s been ideal for me in terms of the distance from home, and the course itself has been fantastic.”
Corinne Brazier, Interior Design Graduate
“Working on live briefs has been one of my favourite things about studying at UCLan, there’s been lots of opportunity to get noticed through competitions and working with big companies. I also really like that the course is so ideas based. It’s not just about making things look good, it’s about the thinking behind it too, and I think that’s really important.” Ashton Hoban, Graphic Design Graduate

Faculty of CULTURE AND THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES
Design at UCLan has an established heritage and philosophy of ‘creative thinking’ that is embedded into our curriculum
Design as a discipline is as strong today as it has ever been and is well placed as a career with excellent prospects. Its importance is recognised by government as the essential driver for change in the world today.
Many of our staff are still active as practising designers. They are able to offer a wide variety of industry knowledge and experience and, as a result, students are armed with a combination of the practical and creative advice they need. The success of this approach is reflected in the high number of national awards achieved each year for our students’ creative endeavours.
Additionally the Graphic Communication courses offer an optional placement year in Industry. This provides students to work in practice before completing studies and provides that valuable work experience on your CV meaning you are fully developed for your creative career.
