I would also work on the designs and would send the sketches of the

products and how the prints and motifs could be incorporated on

them once I receive your opinions on the presentation. Therefore, it

is requested to give your precious feedbacks so t hat I could work on

the desired changes and come out with something better.

Varanasi is an Indian state located on the banks of the river Ganga in

Uttar Pradesh. Varanasi is the spiritual capital of India. It is often

referred to as "the holy city of India", "the religious capital of India",

"the city of Shiva", and "the city of learning". Scholarly books have

been written in the city, including the Ramcharitmanas of Tulsidas.

Today, there is a temple of his namesake in the city, the Tulsi Manas

Mandir. The current temples and religious institutions in the city are

dated to the 18th century.

Textiles of Banaras yesterday and today is the product of a deep

research of this textile industry since the distant past up to our times.

They use various types of cloth weaving and the techniques employed

like making of the threads dyeing, stretching the wrap, polishing tools

used etc and also the handicrafts such as embroideries like Karchohi,

Zardozi etc.

DESIGN CONCEPT I

QUILT

The concept has been generated keeping in

mind the changing demands against fashion

of the people and also promoting the textile

industry of Banaras as there would be more

ideas and designs involved in a single piece of

quilt. The inspiration has been taken from

the picture at the side.

The quilt is thus conceptualized, it would be

convertible and both the sides of the quilt

would have different Banaras design on it

that would help the people to change the side

of the quilt when they are bored of one.

Page 7: design

The prints I would be incorporating in the quilt have been presented in form of swatches below.

Both the prints would be used on each side of the quilt individually to give it a new and creative look.

the motifs and designs that look attractive and gel amongst each other on a

no. of things including Cushions, Curtains, Sofa Covers, Table Mats, Floor

Mats and many other things giving the room a proper Banaras look.

DESIGN CONCEPT III

MODERN DRESSES

Realizing that the Banaras prints and motifs

look beautiful and attractive on the Saris and

ethnic wear, I decided to bring the same on

the contemporary dresses and got inspired

from the idea on the side to relive the culture

and realize the importance of the Banaras

textiles.

The motifs could be used on a number of

apparels such as Long Skirt, Short Dresses,

Long Dresses and also somehow, use it in

different ways such as the prints only on the

collars of the shirt, end of the pants, back of

the blouse coupled with plane sari.

Page 11: design

The prints I would be incorporating in the Dresses have been presented in form of swatches below.

Either of the print could be used on the dresses of any kind as the prints have been selected in a way that would give Classy look to the garment.

DESIGN CONCEPT IV

FURNITURE

The concept generated while sitting on the

chair, Why not bring the Banaras prints and

motifs on the furniture and hence, took the

inspiration from the picture on the side.

They could be used on the cushions that are

placed on Chair, the Sofas even there are

tables that have soft part on the top, the

patterns could also be incorporated there.

This would not only promote the textile of

Banaras but also would give design another

direction.

Page 13: design

The prints I would be incorporating in the furniture have been presented in form of swatches below.

Either of the print could be used on the furniture such as Chairs, Tables, sofas and many more and the motifs are sophisticated and simple to

keep the room looking elegant. Moreover, the motifs would also gel with any random color of the walls.

DESIGN CONCEPT V

FOOT MAT

Keeping in mind, the design choice of the high end people and the

designers, the concept has been generated of designing Home Décor,

Furniture, Accessories and instead of giving them the traditional Banaras

print, design it in an abstract but a royal way. The inspiration of the design

concept has been taken from the above picture.

Page 15: design

ACCESSORIES

The last idea is of designing accessories such as Bags and have Banaras

prints and motifs on them. They could be either a pair of a Bag or a Clutch

or individual products such as Tote Bag, Hand Bags, wallets, Clutch, card

Holders, Jewellery Box etc. The picture above is the inspiration behind my

idea.
