THEDISPATCH www.cdispatch.com2 SUNDAY, MARCH 30, 2014 DESIGN AN AD
Last December we invitedarea students to take part in theCommercial Dispatch Design anAd contest. Our participants hadThe Dispatch delivered to theirclassrooms, and combined with
a curriculum provided to theteachers, were given the oppor-tunity to learn about marketingand ad design.
To say we have some verytalented artists in our area isan understatement and it was adelight seeing what the studentsproduced for the businesses that were assigned to them.
Each student had the option of producing either a
computer generated or hand drawn ad entry. Thoseentries were then presented to our area advertisers andthey chose which ad they would like to be published inthis section.
We also did some judging of our own and selectedone first place winner from each grade level in the hand
drawn and computer generated category to receive a $50cash prize.
How an ad is constructed, the wording used, thefont chosen, the art displayed and the color choice arethings we think about every day here at The Dispatch,as we want the ads that publish in the paper to catch ourreaders attention and to benefit our advertisers and theirbusinesses.
Area students were also asked to provide content forour section by submitting writing entries. Thank you to
Mrs. Beth Greenes 6th grade Language Ar ts class fromCaledonia Middle School for their participation in theOne Mans Trash is Another Mans Treasure category. We hope that you wil l enjoy reading these as much as wedid. The brightness and creativity of these area studentsshould certainly be showcased more often.
Many thanks to the teachers who chose to makethis program part of their teaching day for a month andcongratulations to all of our winners. And a very specialthank you to the advertisers who par ticipated, as youshowed your support of our area children and your localnewspaper.
We look forward to next year s edition, a nd hope tohave many more entriesand winners!

job and new windows. If I had this Dodge truck it would change mylife. It would be cool to have this truck.

I would cherish puppies because they are cute and lovable. I loveanimals because they are lively and soft. If you care about them, they care about you. I would also use them to help my sister over-
come her fear ofDOGS, DU-DU-DUUU! Maybe, if she helpedme raise a puppy she wouldnt be scared, if I could get her to petit first. I also want to be a vet, so the puppies would help me learnhow to handle a lot of animals at one time. I would also learn how tohandle a heap of responsibility. They would be lots of fun and couldteach me lots of things.

I want this treasure becauseI love dogs. They are the best tome. They are all wormed and have gotten their shots. This is goodso you dont have to spend all that money when you get a dog. Chi-
huahuas are small, great lap dogs, and easy to take care of. Theydont have to have a lot of food that day to eat, so a big size dog foodbag would probley last up to two months. Chihuahuas have to begroomed a little more than other dogs but I think its worth it be-cause they have long hair and you can do a cute poof on top of theirhead to get the hair out of their eyes. So thats why I want a Chihua-hua for my treasure.

I would treasure a house because I could make new memories. Iwould pay all of the rent for the house and buy it. It also states thatit has a large yard! It will be lovely for children. I would play outside
all day. I could have a giant Thanksgiving dinner, and have an evenbigger New Years party. I would always welcome people to my newhumble home. Sigh I wish I could buy it right now. Although Ihave no good experience, it seems very cheap. I have never realyliked big houses, so a small cottage is very nice and just the rightsize.

I would want this dog because we lost our black lab, Luke, lastyear. I feel sorry for Liv, the dog we have now, because she is theonly dog at our house. We have 5 cats at our house. Yeah, 5. My
mom has a sympathy problem when it comes to animals. Anyway, Ifeel like Liv is lonely being surrounded by ALL cats. Also, we proba-bly dont need a girl dog because Liv is protective against other girldogs. This is good because this beagle is a boy dog. Just to add on, Ihave always wanted a beagle.

I would treasure this gunrack because I have a lot of guns, butnow a lot of room for the guns. I would most likely keep it for a longtime because I will probably need a place for guns. I have a lot ofguns because I really like to hunt. I mostly go hunting with my dadthough. This gunrack could be big enough to hold some of my dadsguns and some of my own guns. My dad and I both would mostlikely really like this gunrack. It would go really good in my dadsand my hunting room. In the hunting room we have knives, guns, bullets, and fishing rods. This is why I would admire the gunrack.

The reason I chose a puppy is because Ive always wanted one. They are easy to take care of because my Aunt has dogs and shetaught me how to take care of them. Puppies are so cute and sweet.
They also make me feel happy when they play around. My momand dad say that I cant have a puppy because Im not ready and thatthey dont want a inside animal. Puppies are messy but it will be ok.One day I will get a puppy! We already have to outside dogs. Theyare bulldogs.
My most favorite things about puppies are that they play with youand they are so small. I already have a cat but its not a inside cat.
That s why I want a puppy.

I would treasure this puppy because I dont love animals. I REAL-LY LOVE ANIMALS! Now, I know what youre thinking. Why do I
want this puppy so much? Because if the owner really doesnt like
the puppy, they might hurt it or put it down. Another reason is, itsonly 5 weeks old. It can grow up knowing you! I really love puppies, also!
What would I do if I got the puppy?Well, I would walk it, play with it, wash it, and most of all Love!
Since its a boy, I wouldnt have to worry about little puppies! I willREALLY treasure this puppy!

I would treasure this house. It has 1.9 acres and it is priced at$112,500. You could have a wonderful time in it. It is a great and
wonderful shelter, and most people dont have a wonderful shelter
like this one. You could have great meals in this house. It could fitup to lots of people and furniture in here too. In the 1.9 acres youcould have a dog and a pool even with a swing set! Wow, how greatis that? It could even be in your price range too!

Suburban? For a twelve year old? Well, its actually a good idea.hink about this, parents have to buy cars and pay for everything
else right? Well they would still have to pay for this because you
know, I dont exactly have a job. Unless thats watching your neigh-bors kids after school Anyway, but buying this for me now wouldsave money later. I mean its nice. Leather seats, A/C, nice and cool, and it will also keep my peeps cool too. New tires, a movie playertoo? How much better could it get? Just a little better The bestpart of all, its big enough to carry all my peeps! I have a lot of those! So anyway, you get the point. There you have it, the reasons why Iwant the Suburban!

Ruff, Ruff! Awww, you make me sooo happy. Thats what I wantto hear everyday after I get these puppies. I want to see people thatare lonely have a best friend and a smile on their faces. When I firstsaw this ad, the idea just hit me, I wanted to make these preciouslittle puppies into therapy dogs. I would bake some cookies and givethem to the person as I walked in the door, for a little extra treat.
They would stay there for about an hour, giving the sick child or thelonely adult a huge smile on their face, I would treasure that! Iveloved the idea of therapy dogs ever since I was little, I just didnt ex-actly know how to make one so loving. When I was little, I thoughtthat when you bought a puppy, it was just naturally sweet. Now Iknow what a therapy dog truely is, and I would try my hardest tomake a sweet, precious, loving dog. Wouldnt you like that?

I would treasure a Craftsman table saw. It is very handy and easyto operate. You can saw wood even faster than the other saws.
When you use a Craftsman table saw you get the job done. I
might get so good at it that I could make by dog, Tinker, a dog-house.

Being in the 6th grade, I know I cant drive yet. But if I could,Id drive a Dodge Ram. Why, you ask? Because its big, tough, andstrong. What country girl wouldnt want a big, strong, tough truck?Plus, it has a sunroof, which makes it 1,000 times better in the sum-mer! Now enough about the truck. Im sure you want to know WHYId cherish it. Sohere it is Most girls, for a first car would want alittle beetle-bug, or some other small car, but I would want a DodgeRam because Im 59 and Im only in the 6th grade! Being tall, I
would need a car (or a truck) with lots of leg room. And the DodgeRam has just that! AND if you start off with a l ittle car, it might bemore difficult to learn how to drive a big car, but if you start off withbig car, driving a little car will be a breeze! So now you know whyId want a Dodge Ram! And now all I need is $6,000 and a permit!(and a lot of prayer)

I would treasure a beagle, because when someone is feeling blue, and you give them the beagle they wont be feeling blue anymore.A beagle will be your best friend. It can do everything with you; forexample, they can go fishing and hunting with you and even muchmore. A beagle is a fox hunting dog, so if you have foxes it couldhelp you find the animal. Beagles are loyal, a good companion, and
fun to be with. They sense when youre down, happy, or need to beloved. They make a great companion, and a wonderful friend thatwill be with you for life.

Someone might think a piece of furniture, like a dresser, is worth-less, but it could be a treasure to someone else. For instance, mymom bought an old, dirty, worn down dresser and sanded it with asander. She painted it a beautiful light blue with a brown glaze forthe top layer. I now consider it my treasure.
It doesnt even have to be a dresser. It could be something reallybig like a couch. To someone, a dusty, leather couch could be themost wonderful thing in the world, or their treasure. Some neverthink that one mans trash is another mans treasure.

I would treasure this job because my friends and I can get mani/pedis and a facial. If I worked here, I would decorate it howeverI wanted to. It would be turqoise and hot pink with polka dots. Itwould be located in Caledonia, MS 39740.
We would have manicures, pedicures, facials, and more. Wewould probably even have tanning beds. We would also have tan-ning lotion for tanning, and nail polish for manicures and pedicures.
I would love a job at the upscale spa because I love having mani/pedis with my buds.
I would treasure this because I would be able to start a businessand make money with it. I could sell books, candy, and sports equip-ment. If my business got bigger, I could sponsor high school or col-lege football games. With the sponsors, I could expand my business
which would make my company larger. We would have more moneyand create more Jobs. Then I would spread it across the nation andthen the world. When I want to retire, I can pass the business to mykids and they take the business and keep the business going. Thatis what I would do with it.
