Tart Recipe This recipe does not specify which vegetables to use as you should use those seasonal to you! Ingredients These measurements make a tart for one person. • A pinch or two of plain flour • Ready rolled puff pastry cut into a rectangle 20cmx15cm • 1 tablespoon of pesto or tomato paste • Three seasonal vegetables, cut into roughly 2cm chunks or slices • Cheese of your choice • Freshly chopped basil Method 1. Preheat the oven to 200C/180 fan/gas 6. 2. Prepare the seasonal vegetables you are using; peel or deseed if necessary and slice into pieces that are 2cm thick. 3. Lightly sprinkle your work surface with a little flour. 4. Take the rectangle of ready rolled puff pastry and score with a butter knife approximately 1cm margin from the edge – be careful not go all the way through the pastry! 5. Next, take the base you are using (either pesto or tomato paste) and spread this onto the cetre of the pastry (not the margin). 6. Arrange your prepared vegetables over the base so that they are evenly spread out and there is space in between them. 7. Now take the cheese, cut to size and taste and scatter over the vegetables. 8. Sprinkle the basil over the tart and a drizzle of olive oil. 9. Use a spatula to carefully lift the tart from the work surface and place on a baking tray. 10. Bake the tart for 25 – 30 minutes until the vegetables are tender (be careful that the pastry does not burn!) 11. Finally, enjoy your seasonal tart! Design and Technology
