infrared beam

Specification:
The circuit is designed to both manually and remotely control
the opening and closing of a garage door. During the closing
procedure a warning buzzer will sound.
Manual control is through local push buttons S1,S2, S3 and
remote control is through a single pulse remote control
transmitter/receiver/relay unit (simulated using push button B1 and
control relay KA1).
A reflective infra red beam and photo relay unit (simulated
using push button B2 and control relay KA2) stops the door during
its downward travel should an object pass underneath.

Door opening: Operating ‘open’ push button S2
energises contactor KM1 and the door starts opening.
When fully open the ‘top’ limit switch S4 will operate and
de-energise contactor KM1 to stop the door.

Door closing: Operating ‘close’ push button S3
energises contactor KM2 and the door starts closing.
When fully closed the ‘bottom’ limit switch S5 will operate
and de-energise contactor KM2 to stop the door. The
N/O contact KM2 will close to energise the warning buzzer
H5 during the closing motion.
‘Hold on’ in both cases is through the respective contactor
N/O contact.

Control Circuit Method: Start with the Forward Reverse
control circuit. Door opening: Operating ‘open’ push button S2 energises contactor KM1 and the door starts opening. Forward directionDoor closing: Operating ‘close’ push button S3 energises contactor KM2 and the door starts closing. Mechanical interlocking between contactors. Electrical interlocking between contactors KM1 & KM2 are provided through on the contactors.
A limit switch is a switch operated by the motion of a machine part or presence of an object. They are used in the garage door design to ensure that the door stops opening when it has reached the top and stops closing when the door has reached the bottom. The limit switch prevents damage to the door and the motor. When the garage door comes in contact with the roller, the device operates and closes the normally open and opens the normally closed contacts as shown in the diagrams.
Remote control:The arrival of a single radio pulse at the receiver unit from the remote control transmitter will operate the receiver relay (B1 operated to energise control relay KA1) and the N/O contact KA1 will close to open the door if closed, and to close the door if open (depending on limit switch positions)
Infrared beam:If during the closing motion, should an object pass under the door, the infrared beam is broken (B2 operated to energise control relay KA2) the N/C contact KA2 opens which in turn de-energising contactor KM2 and the door immediately stops. When the beam is clear the door will fully close by operating S3 again.
