Having completed my under graduation in ne arts with a specialisation in sculpture from Maharaja Sayajirao University Baroda, I had an inclination towards designing. I got an opportunity to study 3d design in Northumbria University, UK which I successfully completed in 2014.

I am a passionate Product designer with a strong backgroundin ne art. I strongly feel Art and Design are interrelated and thisrelation is evident in my projects. As design is a solution to a problem, I certainly enjoy confronting challenging tasks and solving them. My in depth study in sculpture helped me understand materials in an improved way in product design. It also helped me in quick prototyping and creating artistic forms. My designs portrays functional sculpture.

PROCESSMy design process starts with the design issue. The issue is then scrutinized which leads to brainstorming new ideas. The ideas take its rst shape in the form of sketches which later on convert into 3 dimensional ( using both software and real object ). Prototype is made once the model is nalized.

PROJECT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

PROJECT “V”

THE NEED FOR PROTECTIONThe saplings are often depredated by cattle or other animals. Saplings usually do not survive harsh summers if there is nobody to water them. Environmentalists in Bengaluru observed that this happened due to sheer

proper care for the protection of saplings.

The main reason for climatic changes is said to be due

falling rate in the number of trees because of defores-

problem through the release of CO2.

TREE GUARD

Tree guards are fence-like structures placed around tree beds to protect trees and surrounding plants from damage, soil compaction, animals and vandalism. It is an excellent way to protect street trees from many urban-

Tree guard should be made from a strong, durable material that will withstand many seasons of abuse from weather and city life. One must always keep walkers of all ages in mind since the sidewalk is ultimately a shared space.

TREE GUARDS IN INDIA

In an article published in Indian Express, a leading newspaper in India, brought about the problems faced by the plant growth in Bengaluru city. The initialive taken by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) of planting saplings across the city isnot being taken proper care and results in poor survival rate of plant growth.

Tree guards are extremely dangerous to street trees as they are rarely removed in time to allow the tree to grow and end up girdling the tree, a major cause of tree death in the city.

The core inspiration for this design project is from the leaf structure and its pattern. As this project is on street furniture, it deals with environmental conserns simultaniously. The design as well as the material should be nature related. The consistal use of leaf design is also to provide public awareness about environment and its degredation or anything that helps develop the society.

FRAMEThe main structure of the tree guard design is made of bioplastic. It is an environmental friendly project

SOFT LAYERThe layer made of bioplastic is translusent sheet which protects saplings from excess sunlight.

INFORMATION BOARDProvides information of the sapling planted. Also can write the details of the sapling, if dedicated to someone.

ADVERTISEMENT BOARD Multinational companies can sponser tree guard design in a particular area and this will be a provision for their advertisement.

ROUND ABOUT DESIGN

Roundabout design is an iterative process. In most of the cities the roundabouts remain empty. Only few places are reserved with sculptures and other art forms. It is neccessary to utilize this space for a better society which will provide public awareness about environment and its degredation or anything that helps develop the society.

The research aim is to minimize the excessive effort of laborers in the process of unloading and installing the furniture and to reduce transportation cost and time in moving the furniture from one place to another

The objective of this project is to solve problems concerningcomfort, ergonomics (adjustable feature), social status of people, cost, etc

Collapsible and expandable objects definitly save time and space. Collapsible objects meets the functional requirementsand are basic form of size adjustment principle.

Inspiration for this project is from close study of human anatomy ( skeleton ). The projection of one bone ts into the grove of another which allows exion and extension movement. The arrangement of bones and the joints between two bones are studied carefully and are transferred to the framework of chair and table

RESEARCH THROUGH DESIGNStacking or nesting is a space saving principle of collapsible. The initial idea of stacking demonstrated in g 4.13 has been modied to g 4.14 through the design process. This transformation helped in cutting down 50% of the space consumed than the earlier design.

The joints on the legs of the chair are hinged so as to give exible and smooth movement allowing it to fold and com--press the structure.

Nesting is grouping principle which allows to stack chairs and tables.

The stacked tables and chairs in its most compressed formcan be easily loaded and unloaded. In this way the space can be utilized to its maximum.

The transportation cost and time can be comparitively saved if there is more furniture to transport.

Furniture (table and chair) that can beeasily installed and removed with reduced labour force.

It ergonomically opttimises the work- space and provides adequate comfort with adjustable features.

PROJECT

Rooms are comparitively small in the appartments in the city area. It is certainly necessary to use furnitures which are compatable and foldable so that one can utilize the space maximum. Furniture can be multi-functioning.

The aim of this project to to design a sofa for small space room. Typically, small homes are short on places to stash things. In choosing a sofa, for example, one with fat rolled arms and a multicushion back will seem too inated.
