Beach High School Auditorium Project Update | January-February | 2019
Bidding Savannah-Chatham County Public School System
Bids for the Islands High School Athletic Complex will be received on February 21, 2019 and construction will begin in late March. The project will consist of the construction of an artificial turf multipurpose field and a competition 8 lane track. The stadium bleachers are sized to accommodate 2,000 spectators. The field house building will include home and visitor team rooms, concessions, and restrooms to serve the facility. The field will have LED lighting for evening events with a large vegetative buffer maintained along the south property line for privacy.

Islands Campus Site Work Project Update | January-February | 2019

Design for the new replacement school is in progress. Public meetings and on-line survey opinion polls were conducted to gain a consensus on the design and materials for the front of the building. The new building will be constructed directly behind the existing school and face E DeRenne Ave. when complete. The students at Jenkins will remain in the current building until construction is complete; however, all site based athletic programs will be relocated throughout the construction phase. Construction is slated to begin this summer and the new school will be ready for the start of school in August of 2021.

Jenkins High School Project Update | January-February | 2019

Design for the New Hampstead K-8 School is in progress. The new school will have 93 classrooms and will accommodate 1500 students. The construction work associated with this project will be ready to bid in June 2019. Site clearing, and construction will begin in August 2019 and the building is scheduled to be complete for the beginning of the school year in August 2021. The New Hampstead K-8 School will be located directly behind the New Hampstead High School with a walking path connecting the two schools creating a campus-like atmosphere for the students, faculty and surrounding neighborhood.

Construction Savannah-Chatham County Public School System
The career tech building addition and remodeling is nearing completion. The addition will have a welding lab, engineering lab, robotics area, and computer labs. Inside the school an area is being remodeled for a cosmetology lab and associated classroom. The cosmetology lab will contain work stations for styling, shampoo, drying, manicure, pedicure, and facial applications. The lab will be conveniently located for public access. All new and remodeled areas will be completed and ready for school use in April 2019.

Construction
Savannah-Chatham County Public School System
Competitive bids for the construction of the new White Bluff Elementary School were received and the project was awarded to TQ Constructors at the January 2019 Board Meeting. The existing school was demolished last year, and construction of the new building will begin in February 2019. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2020 for start of the school year.
The new building will accommodate 650 students and will include a full administrative suite, cafetorium with adjoining courtyard, gymnasium, state of the art library/learning commons, music and art rooms, special education rooms, and classrooms.
