DESIGN STUDIO III: SUSTAINABILITY The target of this design course was to design a complex with the main objective of
creating a sustainable environment regarding environmental as well as social
sustainability. The complex consisted of a shop, workshop and residential floor for
lower class craftsmen in Egypt. The main concept was to maintain the social culture
regarding the high interactivity between the shop holders as well as creating an
enclosed ambience with narrow passageways reflecting the typical ambience of a
traditional Egyptian market and workspace area.
