styles Today many pathways may lead to the
same destination: eg. articulation from college to university.
Attend Open houses at schools, job shadow, read program guides, do web searches.
Talk to teachers, employers, guidance counsellors, vocational counsellors.
Prepare for financial cost of programs

NGDHS website has tutorial pdf Applicant needs SIN #, OEN# and can make
their own username and password $95 is the cost for 5 spaces on the
application. Limit to 3 programs at one college.
Students who wish to apply to college must tell Guidance

semester 2 final marks) Questionnaire, essay Resume, references Portfolio, auditions Admission tests ( math,science,english) Work, volunteer, life experiences Information sessions, interview

Info will assist in course requirements, cut off averages and much more!
$130 for 3 Universities and $44 for each additional choice.
Students will be given a PIN from OUAC to apply on line.
All students who wish to apply must tell guidance.

University Admissions OSSD Average calculated on 6 Grade 12 4U or
4M courses. Some Univ. calculate differently for admissions and scholarships.
Cut off averages may be viewed at www.electronicinfo.ca.
Required courses for degrees. Portfolio, essays, Personal statements,
personal information forms.
Offers of AdmissionUniversity: Conditional offers will roll out over the spring,
multiple rounds up to May 29th,2013.Early conditional offers based on high grade 11 marks:
December/JanuaryMust respond to offers starting June 3, 2013Respond through “Review and Change your Completed
Application”.
College: Earliest conditional offer: Feb1, 2013, then multiple rounds up to end of April 2013.
Must respond by May 1st 2013 to an offer. The last Yes sticks!
Oversubscribed programs Or programs requiring portfolios etc. will be the latest to make offers.
Colleges and Universities consider Gr.11 final marks when no grade 12 grade is available.
Apprenticeships www.apprenticesearch.com OYAP uses hours completed from Coop in
High School toward full apprenticeship hours after graduation. See Guidance to find out more.
Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship programs
Some colleges have 1 year certificate programs to give students a set of skills in a trade. This is good for student who cannot find a training work site. May be transferable towards the hours for Full Apprenticeship.
Some colleges offer in-school portions for full apprenticeships in 8 week blocks.
Students will earn as they learn in their trade then schedule time to attend the college for each block of in- school training.(collect UI)
Workplace courses may be acceptable for some of the programs. Check with each college in the apprenticeship section.
