#5 Soli Deo Gloria - Glory to God Alone

2 Peter 3 PREAMBLE: “…I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Saviour through your apostles.” 3:1-2

DESTRUCTION Is Coming

A NEW HEAVEN and a NEW EARTH Is Coming

So .. GROW and Give GLORY to GOD ALONE

CONCLUSION: “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!” 3:17-18 Soli deo Gloria Next Week: Nehemiah 1-2

What will you discuss with someone over morning tea? What will you consider/put into action during the week?

• Praise God for salvation from sin through faith in Christ Alone. Pray we’d live with freedom from sin, and give glory to God in all we do as we look forward to heaven.

• Pray for those who are unwell at the moment. Pray that we’d be a church that loves and cares for each other, and are willing to help in any way that is needed.

• Pray for the Cavanagh Family after the passing of John three weeks ago. Pray for Jeanette, Al & Rhonda and the kids, and for the whole family as they grieve their loss. Give thanks for John’s faith in God, and his trust in Christ for salvation.

• Pray for the Matthews family, particularly for Jean, as Reg passed away this week. Pray they’d comfort each other in their grief, and they’d look to Christ for comfort.

• Pray for those who manage the Church Budget Pray for the Session and the Committee of Management as they put together the Budget for next year and seek to be good stewards of Church resources, while p rov id ing fo r Gospe l m in is t r y th rough our Church activities. Pray for us as a whole Church that we would continue to give generously to see the gospel spread in Wollongbar/Alstonville and beyond.

• Pray for Ian Traise, who left for the Phillipines yesterday. Pray for a productive time with the staff and children of Safe Haven, and for many Gospel opportunities.

•The Latest Prayer Letter from the MacDonalds is on the back table. Pray for David and Gae as they connect with people remote from a church family or Christian witness, and as they look at ways technology can help solve the distance problem.

• The Latest Bible League Prayer Calendar is on the back table. Partners in Haiti are praising God for the Project Philip resources that are contributing to the spiritual growth and conversion of over 200 children. Pray that these young lives will grow in their faith and bring transformation to this impoverished nation. “

• “Bibles for the Persecuted” is on again. Prayer diaries and Collection boxes are on the back table. Please return boxes by Sunday December 10.

WELCOME, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE VISITING TODAY We hope you’ll be encouraged as we hear from the Bible and praise God together today. Crèche (for Preschoolers) and Kids Church (for Primary Aged kids) will begin part way through the service (please sign your children in and out). Please stay for morning tea and a chat after the service, and feel free to fill in a Welcome Card at the back table to help us serve you better.
