    Lake Macalania Note: Go into this section with a set of fully charged aeons. Even with all your guys in fulloverdrive mode, the aeons are the only way (short of lots of leveling up) to beat the final guy in

    this section. Go back to the forest if you don t have overdrives for all your aeons! "ou should find#l $hed %rimer vol. &' ust to the left of * aka.     E1uip 2akka with something that doesn t have magic (unless you have a lightning ball3 use that!)+ontinue on (follow the red arrows). 2hen "una gets captured, head down the trail. -o be able touse magic and aeons, take out the little floating Negator. "ou better have 2akka in the battle!*nce it s gone, haste /ulu and have her cast -hundara for ma or damage. 2atch out for the 4ana$eam3 it hurts. "ou can steal one or more /unar +urtain from him. $e sure to swap everyone in soyou can get the massive #% for them, too.

    2hen your opponent is down under 5555 6% (well, let s say 7k ust in case), call 8ion for afinishing overdrive! -hor s 6ammer is good for 5555 damage (and an overkill nets you 9 eli8irs)!#n interesting note here: don t kill off the Negator if the 4ana $eam is immonent3 negator sealsthat magic as well! f negator is down when the mana beam is about to hit you, be sure to have"una swap in an aeon (or you may lose the whole party.) #gain, it s good to swap everyone in sothat they all get #% in this battle. #fter the whole series of cut scenes, you ll be in front of thetemple.

    -o the right of the entrance is a chest with a 4ega %otion. f you want, you can actually headsouth and get some e8tra stuff here. f you opt to do so, please note that you * N*- 6#'E #6E#/E . really hope you ve been having ikku steal hi0potions (or you ve been stocking up atstores). outh (along the tiny, winding path, is a /v. ;

    should head down a ramp.D. Grab the 4acalania phere from the front of the room (far right) and follow the pedistal

    down the ramp.>. %lace the 4acalania phere in the recess on the pillar (not on the wall) at the bottom of the

    ramp. Notice the two recesses on the far wall.C. emove the glyph sphere from the pedistal and place it in the left0most recess. # pillar

    should rise up from that level to the ne8t one.. Go back up the ramp, grab the 4acalania phere that is on that pillar, and take it back

    started out. -he pillar should reappear and have a glowing pink destruction sphere.;>.Grab the 4acalania phere from the center collumn and place it in the ramp recess (so that

    you can go down the ramp).;C.Grab the destruction sphere and head down the ramp.; .%lace it in the final recess to reveal the chest3 grab the /uck phere.;A.-ake your pri@e. Get the estruction phere and head back up the ramp.;7.Hnfortunately, if you ust grab the 4acalania sphere from the ramp top and place it back

    in the center collumn, and you can t 1uite get out. nstead, replace the destruct sphere onthe pedastal, and place the 4acalania sphere from the ramp into the recess on the far rightwall 0 this will respawn the ice that stops the column in the first step above.

    ;5.$efore we shove the pedastal down the ramp, though, we need to convert that destructionsphere into a 4acalania sphere. Go up the ramp and step on the emblam at the top of theramp. -he pedistal and pink destruction sphere should appear ne8t to you. %ush it downthe ramp.

    9?.6ead down and step on the emblem near where you first found the pedistal. "ou can now push the pedistal to the right and it will be stopped by the ice.

    9;.-ake the 4acalania sphere from the far right wall and place it in the ramp recess. hovethe pillar down the ramp, then to the right so it completes the column.

    99. inally, head back up the ramp and take the ramp recess 4acalania sphere and place it

    back in the center column.

    2hen you leave the temple, you will be given a chance to save. suggest you take it, but that s upto you. f you ever can t get out, ust retrace your steps the the save point on the prior screen andgo through the steps again 0 e8cept don t step on the glowing emblem at the top of the ramp.

    Neverending $attles 6ead up around the ramp, and hope your guys can beat these okers. n theory, you can get into aninfinite number of battles here. t s marginally good for leveling0up, but not much else. 2ell, guess you can have ikku try to steal some 4usk from the Evil Eye enemies. t s pretty useful forcustomi@ing your shields to add confuseproof block to them. f you have a controler with IturboIon it, you can ust put something heavy on the I8I and let -idus, ikku, and 2akka kill off badguys. t seemed like a fairly easy way to make a few levels. wouldn t let it go -** long, though,

    ust because you re probably mostly filled up on spheres anyway.

    wouldn t suggest standing and fighting unless your guys can do over ;??? points of damage,though. #nd watch your aeons. "ou can lose em pretty 1uickly when the guys team up on you. #ssoon as you leave the temple look to your right. *pen the chest and take the mega0potion (if youdidn t get it before). f you re used all your overdrives on your #eons, take this opportunity torecharge them. 6ead away from the temple and take the right hand road. *pen the chest right after

    the little bridge (if you missed it earlier), then head over the bridge and go down a little to the ne8tsave sphere. ave your game3 you may want to reset if things get out of hand here.

    f you want to make this go really fast, get overdrives for at least two #eons. chose 8ion andfrit. -rust me 0 it s easier this way. 6ead down and watch out.

    $oss $attle 6ave two *verdriven #eonsB 6ave -idus cast haste on "una, and have her summon 8ion.*verdrive to kill the two dudes. ismiss him. wap all characters in so everyone levels up. tealif you can. or "una s ne8t move, dispel the hellJ%rotect, then summon frit on her ne8t attackand kill him off. -hat s the easy way. on t have fully charged #eonsB -here s always the hardway...

    -his battle can be pretty tough, but with proper planning it s simplicity itself. recommendstarting out with 2akka, -idus, and ikku. 6ave -idus start out with a 6astega (they re immuneto slow, so avoid that). Ne8t, have wakka use sleep buster on the two side guys. f it kills them,great! f not, they ll at least go to sleeep so they don t auto0potion. 6ave ikku steal one or more&0%otions from the 2endigo, then swap in "una to cast both Esuana (only if he s berserk) andispel (take out the hell and %rotect).

    6ave -idus use delay attacks and have 2akka use dark attacks. -his should keep him from really

    being able to attack you much. wap in your guys so every participates. f you have trouble withhim, put him to sleep and then cast fira a few times. 2hen he s down below >k 6%, call in an aeon(this is ice country, so call frit). f you build up an overdrive, use it 0 have the aeon cast special0Freflect, then special0Fcheer, then boost until you get an overdrive, then use it.

    2hen you wake up, talk to everyone (save "una for last) and then after the cut scene, open thechest behind

    below, try the strategy provided. emember, any character who participates in battle gets &% 0 evenif all sJhe does is sit there 1uietly.

    and 2orm: Hse haste on your guys. t s immue to slow, however. 6it him with %oison (bio) and amental break. Hse emi for a 1uick 5555 pts of damage. elay works on him, as does sleep, too (use sleep buster right before his turn to keep him from ever using a regular attack). =ust " : 6e ll

    use an attack called wallow to eat one of your guys 0 sometimes when it s not even his turn. f thishappens, try to not kill him off until you get your guy back out (otherwise they won t get e8periencefrom the battle). "ou can also use dark on him to keep from getting hit by his normal attack. 8 6i%otions. *nce you pick it up, head back the other way and north to the ne8t screen. f you runacross enemies with chests, be sure to steal from the chests before killing off all the enemies! found Ethers and &0%otions this way.

    2hen you get to anubia esert 0 +entral3 be sure to look around here. ind the chests: rom the entrance, follow the left wall to a chest in at the far left corner: 98 4ega0%otion. rom there, head right and slightly down to where long piece of rubble hiding a chest with

    98 &0%otion. +ontinue right, and go slightly up (to the very middle of the plain) is a chest with >8 6i0

    %otion. Hp and left from there is a save point 0 use it if you need to. -here s an #l $hed first aid kit behind the save point: 78 #l $hed %otion.

    -here are two paths from the save point, the left one goes toward strong fiends (harder to kill, butmore #%). -he right path goes to an area of weaker fiends. -o the left, you can find the following:

    ollow the left wall of this area to get a chest with an eli8ir. /eft of that is the 9nd half of thewords you saw written on the ruins of

    $hed %rimer vol &' near it. "ou re now #l $hed Hnydun. f you take the right e8it, ust go up alittle ways3 the first path heading left is where you would appear had you taken the Istrong fiendsI

    path. *ff to the right is a stone with a picture of a cactaur on it3 you can safely ignore that for now.

    t will become useful at a later date. ollow the left wall again and you should see a little umble of debris that forms an alcove.

    f you have 558 6i0%otion alread, consider using them to give one of your aeons the +ureability, or ust healing your guys up all the way before opening the chest in this place3 itcontains 78 6i0%otion.

    +ontinue to follow the left wall and you ll find another chest that s mostly hidden behindsome debris. -his one has D8 4ega0%otion.

    +ontinue following the left wall and you ll eventually come to another chest. -his one has 98&0%otion.

    ight and slightly down you ll find a couple of andragora enemies. *ne guards a 4egali8irin a chest. -he other, 98 -eleport phere.

    ollow the red arrows. "ou should eventually come to a narrow opening that s blocked by aandragora. "ou will be unable to go around him, and this is a point of no return. f you want tocontinue to level0up or look for stuff, don t worry. "ou ll be able to get back to this area in a fewminutes. f /ulu has not at least reached the -hudaga sphere on the phere Grid, reallyrecommend you level her up until she does. f -idus and ikku hit their /v. D /ock, don t back trackalong the sphere grid yet 0 ust horde the sphere levels for now. ight the andragora and watch thecut scenes. " : -here s a mercury crest here off to the left. -his is part of ikku s ultimate weapon.-here s a rumor going around that you can t get until you ac1uire the airship, but ve been able toget it when first get here. eturn and come all the way here to get it.

    efending #l $hed 2elcome to 6ome. /earn something interesting about ikku thereB he s +id s daughter. 2ait asec... 2asn t some guy named +id "una s uncleB 6mm... oes that make "una and ikku+ousinsB!B $efore you head into the dome, remember to pick up the #l $hed %rimer vol. & & here,on the left, save, and uh, go back outside and level up, if you want. /*/. -he bombs that show upas soon as you enter the dome are e8tremely sensitive to bli@ard magic. :) "ou ll also run intorandom encouters with two ual 6orn enemies. usually kill off the Guado first, then the ual6orns. f you have trouble with them, consider using ark #ttack. "ou can steal a mega potion,$-2. -he flying enemies here cause +onfuse sometimes. 4ake sure not to leave /ulu confused fora full round, or she may attack you with magic. "ou can lancet elf estruct from them, too, if youhaven t already done so. I-alkI to the recently deceased for a few 6i0%otions, then save. ollowikku and the others through the first door. *n the ne8t screen, head through the door ahead.

    ollow everyone else down the stairs, then turn around and go back up the stairs (get the chest with>8 #l $hed %otion at the bottom of the stairs) and through the door on the left. ight the guys insideand open the chests ( ee the M below if you don t know enough #l $hed.) "ou can also obtain the #l$hed %rimer vol. && here. 6ead back down the stairs and to the left to find a save sphere you canuse, but *N - go through the doorway there (you won t be able to come back). -he center path(right from the save sphere) has a chest in it with 8 #l $hed %otion. -ake the path to the right. #tthe end of the hallway is #l $hed %rimer vol. && . -hrough the doorway here, you ll get a kill andpecial sphere, (if you don t know #l $hed, see the MM note below) as well as an #l $hedcompilation sphere.

    2hen you re ready to advance the plot, head through the doorway to the left of the save sphere.$eat the +hemera and head to the lowest level. -here are two chests here (/v.9

    stairs you ust came down.) 2hen you ve got them, go down one through the door on the right. nthe far left corner of this room, there is one chest with ;?,??? Gil. #fter a lot of cut scenes (youshould probably watch them3 these are kind of important.) 6ead through the last door (lower rightcorner), down the walkway and up the stairs, onto the airship.

    #irship! 4ore cut scenes, and you can wander around the ship. f you leave the bridge and take the first leftyou come to (from -idus point of view, that is) you can find another one of those #l $hedcompilation spheres. f you ve collected all the #l $hed primers in a previous game, pop in thememory card and scan it. -he ne8t time you talk to in, -idus will converse in fluent #l $hed."ou ll also get 558 Hnderdog s ecret. Hsing D? of these on a weapon will give it the I ouble*verdriveI skill. ell off anyJall e8tra weapons you ve managed to pick up. ( f you want, you cansign up rin to play for your blit@ball team. don t know if he s any good.) #nother screen up fromthat is a mother and child al bhed. f you look at the mini0map, you ll see the ability to head lefthere. Go there and try to talk to onna a few times. 2hen she asks if she should 1uit, say, I ure,sounds good to me!I "ou ll be treated to a few e8tra sceens later on.

    #fter wandering around for a while, you can return to the bridge. Now talk to +id, then brother (he sat the far end of the bridge). -alk to +id, then ikku until she repeats herself, then /ulu. "ou maywant to choose to heed her advice to have either -idus or ikku learn some magic. t s not the endof the world if you don t, though. n any event, both -idus and ikku are going to 1uickly run upagainst a /v. D /ock. #t this poing in the game, you won t have any /v. D pheres, "ou can,however, use a -eleport phere to teleport to the -hundaga (not -hundara!) sphere that /ulu ustfilled in. -hat lets em learn -hundaga, iraga, $li@@aga, 2aterga, and 6% L 9??. Not bad ump, if do say so myself. 6ere s the thing, though. -idus uses his 4% for 1uick hit, and ikku uses her 4%for mug. o it s up to you, but if you do MdoM opt to send one of the them, be sure to have learneduick 6it (-idus) and $ribe ( ikku). -o be perfectly honest, ust let them stop at the /v. D /ockand accrue phere /evels. 2hen you get to 4t Gaga@et, you should be able to get lots of /v D. plus;. 9nd is A minus ;. 9rd is D ties ;. >th is 9 plus ;. "ou should get a special sphere here.

    $ickanel: eturning /ater "ou ll want to come back to $ickanel sland later on in the game. ee the Gatekeepers ide uestection for more information about the fun kinds of things you can do here!

    Bevelle+on1uering the 2yrm 2hen fiends attack the ship, head toward the hull of the ship (head to the bottom of the screen asmany times as you can, then head up the stairs and toward the top of the screen). 2hen you are told

    to fight the wyrm, save at the save point there and head to the top of the screen. -alk to the guys onthe deck there for some potions. in s wares are totally worthless here, so don t bother purchasinganything ust yet. 2ell, maybe not -*-#//" useless. f you have >C?? Gil to blow, you mightconsider buying up to 55 antidotes and customi@ing your shields to add poison wards.Hnfortunately, you cannot poison proof. "ou may also want to make sure you have ;C09? #ntidotesand ;C09? ofts on hand. #ctually, the softs are probably a bad idea. 6ave ikku IuseI the #l $hed

    potions to cure poison. t will cure everyone s poison and also give ;??? 6% back to everyone. "ouMcanM hit him with a ark #ttack, so you may want to consider that.

    like to start this battle with -idus, ikku, and #uron. -idus has a I irst trikeI weapon, whichallows me to cast 6astega right out of the gate. 3) also like to use /uck and +heer. uickhit by ahasted -idus can do E *H damage to this guy. ikku can steal a water gem (or two, or ten, orwhatever).

    off, and press the direction you want to go, and tap I&I when you are on the green glyph. or onesthat are moving fast, mash a lot and pray (a IturboI controller can really help out here). -he firstthing you ll do is press I&I to confirm the IdirectionI (meaning you want to start.)

    ;. /evel ;: -here are three arrows here3 all are along a straight path. "ou ll be on a moving platform heading down the path.

    -ake the 9nd set of arrows first (you want to go left). Grab the $evelle phere here and put it on the pedistal. hove the pedistal back toward the path to continue. "ou ll turn left automatically. $utton mash at the end of the path, and you should turn around. -ake another left when you get to the first path (it s straight across from where you

    ust got the $evelle phere). emove a $evelle phere from the pedistal here and place it in the recess3 you

    should see a pathway light up. f not, take the sphere back, and try again. hove the pedistal onto the path again, but this time let yourself fall of the edge by

    not mashing &. "ou ll start out back at the top. -ake the first right you come to (button mash).

    9. /evel 9: -he platform will pause and you ll see I+onfirm irectionI instructions. 2ait forthe arrow to point straight ahead, and press &. "ou will continue on to /evel D.

    D. /evel D: "ou ll decend down another path and around a corner. 2hen the platform stops, go around the pedistal and grab the $evelle phere. %lace it on the pedistal. hove the pedistal back onto the path3 you ll head back up to /evel 9.

    >. /evel 9: "ou ll go back around the corner and up to /evel 9, where you made a directionchoice earlier.

    -his time, wait for the arrow to point right, then press &. -ake the very last path you come to (there are three). ON*-E: f you are going too

    fast and cannot manage to ump off, you ll Ifall offI the edge and end up back at theI+onfirm irectionI platform. -his time you are facing down the path, so choose the

    path straight ahead. f you continue to be moving to fast, you can slow yourself down by taking the first path, then immediately pushing the pedistal back on the path.P

    2hen you manage to take the path at the end of this path, remove one of the $evellepheres from the %edistal and place it on the phere haped ecess to your left. #

    path should open up. gnore it for now3 push the pedital back onto the path whereyou came from. "ou ll Ifall offI the edge, and appear back at the Iconfirm directionI

    platform for this level. -his time, choose the straight path, then take the 9nd path you come to (it will be to

    the right). #s before, if you are going to fast, you can use the - path to slowyourself down.

    #t the end of this path is a Glyph phere. emove it from the 2all and place it onthe pedistal.

    hove the pedistal back onto the path you came from. "our platform will return to the main path and head right. "ou want to 1uickly start

    mashing & so you can stop at the final path again. emember this path (that told you to ignore earlier)B emove the G/"%6 sphere

    (don t accidentally take the $evelle phere!) from the pedistal and place it in therecess at the end of this path.

    # path should open up and provide you access to the destruction sphere. Get it, and

    place it on the pedistal. hove the pedistal back onto the moving path. *nce again, you ll fall of the edge,

    choose the straigh path, and once again take the E+*N path (where you found the

    glyph sphere). on t forget you can use the first path to slow down, if you need. ee the recess where you found the Glyph sphere earlierB emove the estruction

    phere (the pinkish one) from the pedistal and place it in that recess. "ou should seea short cut scene that doesn t really make any sense3 don t worry about it.

    hove the pedistal back onto the path, and take the last right. Grab the bevelle sphere here and place it on the pedistal. hove the pedistal, fall off the edge, choose to go forward, and this time take that

    - right. 2hen the pedistal stops, shove it toward the bottom of the screen (so it continues

    along the same direction it was traveling). "ou should now follow a weird >C degree angled path up a steep slope to the bottom

    of a stair way. 2alk up the stairs.

    -here is a chest here with an 6% sphere. Grab that and watch the chest dissapear. "ou should alsohave -2* bevelle spheres on the pedistal. Go get one, and put it in the recess at the top of thescreen, and you should see a path light up. tep on the glowing thing that was hidden under the

    chest you got the 6% sphere out of. 2hen the pedistal shows up, push it left to cross over and getthe

    eventually end up at the glyph in the upper left corner of the map.;C.2hen -6#- one is glowing and pointing west, step on it to get to the hidden area. "ou

    should get a kill phere in one chest and a /ucid ing in another chest. # third, hiddenchest contains ;?,??? Gil. E8amine all parts of the gate blocking the path east to find thisone.

    ; .Hse the teleports to go back to ave %oint -wo (two umps east from the treasure room),

    then save. $efore heading north, really recommend you do a little #eon modding. f youspent the time to steal from cactaur0style enemies (on the -hunder %lains and $ickanelsland), you should have enough stolen chocobo feathers to teach haste. -each that andcheer, aim, focus, and refle8. 2hen ready ("ou have a complete set of fully charged #eons,rightB!B), head north one screen.

    6ead to the top of the ma@e. "ou will meet up with ssaru. "ou now have to do summon battles. had a fully charged group of #eons with overdrives.

    $attle ;: 6e calls an frit type #eon. called $ahamut. ince he was charged, had him use*verdrive 4egaflare. nstant *verkill with about 9C< amage.

    $attle 9: 6e calls a 'alifor type #eon. called $ahamut. had $ahamut 6aste, then cheer, thenrefle8. #fter that, ust attacked until he was dead (another overkill). 6e couldn t touch my$ahamut. f you haven t modded your aeon to have haste, etc, try this strategy: $oost until you getan overdrive and use that. #s soon as his valifor gets an overdrive, shield against energy ray. "oureally shouldn t have any trouble with %terya.

    $attle D: -his time he calls a $ahamut type #eon. ince could not call $ahamut, called a fullycharged 'alefor and used Energy ay for 5555. ismiss and call a fully charge frit. 6ellfire for

    5555. ismiss and call a fully charged 8ion. -hor s 6ammer for 5555 and another overkill. 6is$ahamut never got in a shot. : 6owever, if you re unlucky enough to have "una take the brunt of a4egaflare, then you re pretty much hosed. on t let that happen. f his countdown goes to ;, be sureto leave an #eon to take the blunt of that attack. t will do over 9k in damage, almost certainlyenough to kill her.

    2aterworld "ou are now -idus. emember that conversation with /ulu about having ikku or -idus learningsome magicB t was for this area. f you did that, ust use thundaga on these guys. ince don ttypically go that route, ll also tell you how to get past all these enemies without using magic. aveand then head right if you want to buy stuff. -hat treasure chest is a store. Go straight, then head left

    at the fork. 6ave ikku use grenades on these okers, and have tidus use delay attacks on*ctopuses. $lind the *cto if you need to. ighting the really big enemy here is actually pretty [email protected] t both with openning the locks on the gate. f you do that twice he can t strike back3 he ll do faraway attacks, and you can use #l $hed potions to keep your guys healthy. $ut really, this guy isK*4$ E . o you have a couple of &0%otions handyB -hink they might be useful at a time likethis...B : =ust hit him with -2* and he s a gonner with an overkill for 98 $lk 4agic phere.-here s a chest at the bottom of the ne8t area up. Grab it for a rematch. #round the corner is anotherchest with an #venger. +ontinue swimming around a few more corners. f you have trouble leaving,you may have to swim toward the bottom. #fter a /*- of cut scenes, we ll have control of thecharacters again.

    teal some tetra elemental. rom eymour, that is. 2hen the battle first started for me, had -idus6aste "una. -hen called three aeons ('alifore, then frit, then $ahamut) and had them use theiroverdrives. ince these do 5555 each on the lower ones, and between ;;k and D?k using $ahamut,it finished him off fairly 1uickly. *h, and got >8 /. 9

    you guys are at a decent level) you should be able to level up here by simply watching your guysevery so often to make sure they aren t totally dead. -he bottom line on this is, if -idus has firststrike and can kill off the guado guard in one shot, you can probably fight at least C to ;? battles
