  11. 11. INTERNET IDENTITY BREAKDOWN Three major ways to look at Internet identity 1. Digital Identity: Data (text, pictures, video, etc) 2. Online Identity: Data & Behavior 3. Internet Identity: Data Behavior :: Identity
  12. 12. DIGITAL IDENTITY The data that uniquely describes a person or a thing & contains information about the subject (text, links, photos, videos, content). A critical problem in cyberspace is knowing with whom one is interacting because were interacting with data Currently there are no ways to precisely determine the identity of a person in digital space (data can be manipulated) Even though there are attributes (data) associated to a persons digital identity, these attributes or even identities can be changed, masked or trashed & new ones created

Choice, decisions, reflection, & participation It can also be considered as an actively constructed presentation of oneself (behavior). Relationship to a certain social group(s) they are a part of online. Some can even be deceptive about their identity (but that still tells us something about a persons identity). The combination of data, behavior, association, & expression

Identity (social science)) Internet = environment How we relate to the environment (physical, social, emotional) Digital identity a culmination of data that uniquely describes a person or a thing & contains information about the subjects relationships to other entities (Note: the interconnected reliance to above)

  24. 24. STEP 3) REFLECT ON YOUR IDENTITY What do you want to be known for? How do you want to represent yourself? Do you want to be a generalist or a subject matter expert? Who do you aspire to be like and why? When asked what do you do, can you answer it concisely?
