Now Presenting Kalingapatnam, the 'enticing Beachfront' The Kalingapatnam beach is located close to the coastal town of Srikakulam. An incredibly scenic spot, the beach also houses a light house constructed by the British. Kalingapatnam is also an important sea port in the ancient times and was frequented by many European traders and merchants. Ships from Malaysia and Singapore used to come here. Main exports from this port were Perfumes, textiles and other goods. The port was closed during later part of British rule in India.
The site is also the conuence point of the river Vamsadhara and Bay of Bengal. The Beach is also referred to as the Open Road Sea since the roads here end in the bed of the sea shore. The view created by sand, sea and the sky is extremely charming and beautiful.
The beach is ideal for weekend trips and for a dip during auspicious occasions. The locality is famous for seafood specialities.
Nearby tourist attractions include: Sri Suryanarayana Swamy temple at Arasavalli, Sri Kurmam Temple at Gara, Sri Mukhalingam Temple at Jalumuru, Buddhist monument at Shalihundam, Light house point at Kalingapatnam, Vamsadhara conuence at Kalingapatnam, Setthampet valley, Scuba diving at Chintapally, Mandasa fort at Mandasa, Buddhist monument at Dantapuri, Mogadulapadu beach etc.
