Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research, incollaboration with Divine Group and Global MDP, had organized a Three Days National FacultyDevelopment Program/Workshop on ”FINANCIAL MODELING WITH MS-EXCEL” from16th to 18th December, 2017 at their campus. As financial modelling is one of the most desiredskills in today’s corporate world, the workshop was designed in such a way that it enabled theparticipants to learn basics of MS Excel all the way to create successful financial models on theirown. The workshop was aimed to offer participants the intensive instructions and training neededto successfully compete in rapidly developing global financial markets. Academicians andresearchers from various distinct locations including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh,etc. attended the workshop. The key areas covered in the workshop which started daily at 9:30am and ended at 5:30 pm included basic concepts of excel and financial modeling, forecasting offinancial statements, financial statement analysis using key financial ratios, application oflogistic regression, non cash flow valuation models, among others.Various case studies were discussed to make the concepts more clear. Practical hands on sessionwere conducted daily for better understanding of the participants. The resource persons for theworkshop were Dr. Neeraj Sehrawat, alumnus of IIM (Ahmedabad), currently working asAssistant Professor at Saheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, University of Delhi; Dr.H.N. It is usually believed that Indians are good savers but not good investors. To generate awarenessabout investment and various options in investment, a workshop on “Investment Awareness”was organized on October 6, 2017 for the students of B. Com. (Hons.) 2nd year. Dr. Mukul Jain,certified trainer of SEBI, and Consultant convened the workshop. He talked about the role ofSEBI for protecting the interest of investors. His focus was to start the habit of saving money,and whatever amount it is saved, a person must invest the same in right option. He also stressedupon the point that it is good to inculcate the habit of savings right from an early age so as tohave a secured future.

Pursuing post graduation in management has become a trend now a days, irrespective of thestreams students have in graduation. They inculcate the traits of good manager and leaders in thisprogram. A plethora of institutions across the country today offer management education.Ascertain the credibility of an institute before taking the plunge is important.

Dr. Tavleen Kaur, Faculty at IBS Gurgaon was called to deliver lecture on the Career Seminarheld on September 21, 2017 on the topic “Insights on Choosing the Right B-School”. Managing of finance is basically concerned with planning, organizing, controlling andmonitoring funds and resources in general. Scope of Financial Manager is growing in corporateworld. A guest lecture was conducted for the students of B.Com (Hons) and BBA on 20th Sept,2017 in the premises of Delhi School of Professional Studies & Research (DSPSR). Ms. Dimple,American Academy of Financial Management delivered the lecture highlighting the careeropportunities in the area of Finance. She discussed various short-term certificate courses infinance area which will enhance the knowledge and skills of students in this stream , so as toimprove their chances of getting god job in the corporate sector.

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY AT DSPSR

The Rotaract Club of Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research has celebratedInternational Literacy Day on September 8, 2017. The office bearers of the club motivated all thestudents of the college to participate in the event by donating stationery items to be used by theunderprivileged students studying in nearby Government school - Nagar Nigam Prathmik SahShiksha Vidyalaya, Sector 26, Rohini and also by the kids of the slum dwellers living in thenearby JJ colony. The students, faculty and non faculty members of the college donated schoolbags, registers, colours, story books, cursive writing books, pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners,etc. whole heartedly for the noble cause. Two events were organized to distribute stationeryitems so collected among underprivileged students. In the morning, the rotaractors of the clubarranged a stationery distribution drive at Nagar Nigam Prathmik Sah Shiksha Vidyalaya, Sector26, Rohini which was graced by Rtn. Prof. Ajay Kumar Singh, President Governing Body ofDSPSR, Rtn. Prof. R.P. Tulsian, Secretary, and Rtn. Mohan Nagpal, District Rotract CommitteeChairman, of Rotary Club of Delhi Maurya, RI District 3012. The Principal of the schoolextended a warm welcome to the team of Rotarians as well as Rotaractors. Around 250 studentswere gathered in the compound of the school and each one of them was called one by one tocollect the stationery item.

In the evening, an event was organized in the campus for the kids from nearby J.J. Colony. Prof.B.P. Singh, Honorable Chairman, DSPSR and Prof. G.S. Popli, Executive Director, DSPSRgraced the event. Prof. B.P. Singh shared with the kids, the importance of education inachievement of a bright future. He motivated the students to set a goal for their career and workhard. Prof. G.S. Popli congratulated the faculty members and student volunteers of the RotaractClub of DSPSR for their efforts in making the event successful.

Session on Stress Management Session on August 30, 2017

Stress might occur amongst the students due to relationship conflicts, peer pressure, unclearambition and challenging career path. A stress management session was held in the Delhi Schoolof Professional Studies & Research to help the students to overcome stress.Dr. Rana Singh, Director - Institutional Effectiveness (Quality Assurance), University of Jazeera,Dubai delivered a lecture with students of BBA 3rd Semester on “Stress Management” on August30, 2017. He talked about reasons for stress in day to day life. He explained the student’s abouttechniques such as to be positive, taking long breathe, relaxing, mediating, going outside, takingthings easy and keeping calm in life to avoid and beat stress in their daily life. He further guidedstudents about healthy eating habits that help in reducing stress. It was an informative andfruitful session for the students as they learnt to cope up stress in their daily life.

Orientation of B.Com (Hons) and BBA 2017-2020

Introducing students to college is about presenting them their college life in its entirety. It wasan immense pleasure for our college Delhi School of Professional Studies & Research to conductthe orientation for new session B.Com (Hons) and BBA 2017-2020 students.

First of all, Ms. Disha Thanai welcomed all the fresher’s to college. Orientation started withlighting of Lamp by all the dignitaries present in college, Prof (Dr.) A.K.Singh, PresidentDSPSR, Prof (Dr.) Anil Kumar Singh, General Director, DSPSR, Prof( Dr) Ravinder Vinayak,Director, DSPSR and Prof( Dr.) G.S.Popli, Executive Director DSPSR. After that meditation wasfacilitated by Ms. Mani Goswami.

Subsequent to meditation all the dignitaries’ Prof (Dr.) A.K.Singh, President DSPSR, Prof (Dr.)Anil Kumar Singh, Director General, DSPSR, Prof( Dr) Ravinder Vinayak, Director, DSPSRand Prof( Dr.) G.S.Popli, Executive Director DSPSR addressed students and shared theirvaluable experiences with them.

Students were informed about college profile, attendance rules, examination rules seminars andconferences, cultural and sports activity, EDC and all the extra-curricular societies in the college.Seniors also presented a song to welcome their juniors to college. In the end, vote of thanks wasgiven by Ms. Disha Thanai.

Orientation of B.Com (Hons) and BBA 2017-2020

Introducing students to college is about presenting them their college life in its entirety. It wasan immense pleasure for our college Delhi School of Professional Studies & Research to conductthe orientation for new session B.Com (Hons) and BBA 2017-2020 students.

First of all, Ms. Disha Thanai welcomed all the fresher’s to college. Orientation of B.Com (Hons) and BBA 2017-2020

Introducing students to college is about presenting them their college life in its entirety. It wasan immense pleasure for our college Delhi School of Professional Studies & Research to conductthe orientation for new session B.Com (Hons) and BBA 2017-2020 students.

First of all, Ms. Disha Thanai welcomed all the fresher’s to college. Orientation started withlighting of Lamp by all the dignitaries present in college, Prof (Dr.) A.K.Singh, PresidentDSPSR, Prof (Dr.) Anil Kumar Singh, General Director, DSPSR, Prof( Dr) Ravinder Vinayak,Director, DSPSR and Prof( Dr.) G.S.Popli, Executive Director DSPSR. After that meditation wasfacilitated by Ms. Mani Goswami.

The quiz is conducted among45 colleges and the students qualifying the preliminary round are eligible to participate in thefinal round. The quiz consists of general knowledge question primarily.

Around 55 students of Delhi school of Professional Studies and Research also participated in thecompetition conducted in the college premises on 20th February, 2017. Mr. Mukund KumarGoyal , student of B.com (h) VI Semester , qualified in the grand finale round held at Institute ofTechnology and Science on 23 February, 2017 and secure 7th position. He also received a meritcertificate and cash prize of Rs. 1,000. All the other participants were given participationcertificate for the same.

Shri Subhash Jatoga, CEO,Global Business Solutions gave guest lecture on February 14, 2017 to BBA - 4 SEM students.He started his lecture by emphasizing on the importance of having a career goal and a career pathin a right direction. His main focus was to generate awareness amongst the students aboutvarious opportunities available in the corporate sector and to guide them on realistic career path.He further highlighted that career choice is not only shaped by their skills and economic factors,but also by their perception of host environment and practical challenges.

An Analysis of Union Budget 2017-18 on February 9, 2017

Union Budget is a statement of the estimated receipts and expenditure of the government for afinancial year.A faculty session on the analysis of Union Budget for the financial year 2017-18 was organizedon February 9, 2017 at Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research, GGSIP University.The session started with welcome address of Prof. Ravinder Vinayak (Director) and he focusedon implication of Union Budget and its impact on Socio Economic Sector of the economy.The session was further headed by Prof. D. K. Vaid and Prof. D. N. Dwivedi. Miss BhawnaManyal, Assistant Professor, DSPSR was the convener of the session.

Prof. D N Dwivedi highlighted following three main issues of the Union Budget:1. Preponement of proposed Union Budget.2. Railway Budget merged with Union Budget3. No distinction between Plan and Non Plan Expenditure.

Dr. Shipra Singh, Associate Professor, DSPSR presented her views on digital economy. Shefurther added that Budget was proposed a month earlier due to Goods & Service Taximplementation.Other Faculty members also gave their valuable opinion on various aspects ofthe Budget such as agriculture and rural Economy, infrastructure, skill development, fiscalPolicy, and MSMEs. A discussion session was held on the analysis of various aspects of UnionBudget and its impact on common man.

World Cancer Day is an initiative under which the entire world can unite together in the fight

against global Cancer epidemic. World Cancer Day aims to save millions of preventable deaths

each year by raising awareness, education about Cancer, motivating Government and individuals

across the world to take action against the disease.

Rotaract Club of Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research in collaboration with Rotary

Club of Delhi Maurya , Rotary International District-3012 organized a seminar on World Cancer

Day on 4th February, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. at Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research.

Ms. Mani Goswami, Faculty, DSPSR welcomed the dignitarities and the seminar started with the

address of Rtn. President A.K Bhalla. He emphasized on the fact that moral support should be

provided to the patients and positive stories should be shared with them to boost their morale.

Rtn. Prof. R.P. Tulsian enlightened the audience that Cancer is a curable disease. He pointed that

it is easier for a person to recover if he has a strong will power.

Dr Raksha Goel gave an elaborated overview about Cancer disease, its types, causes, prevention

and cure..Rtn. Prof. KV. Bhanumurthy highlighted on social, economic and financial aspects of

the disease Cancer.

SEMINAR ON WORLD CANCER DAY on 4th February, 2017

World Cancer Day is an initiative under which the entire world can unite together in the fight

against global Cancer epidemic. World Cancer Day aims to save millions of preventable deaths

each year by raising awareness, education about Cancer, motivating Government and individuals

across the world to take action against the disease.

Rotaract Club of Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research in collaboration with Rotary

Club of Delhi Maurya , Rotary International District-3012 organized a seminar on World Cancer

Day on 4th February, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. at Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research.

Ms. Mani Goswami, Faculty, DSPSR welcomed the dignitarities and the seminar started with the

address of Rtn. President A.K Bhalla. He emphasized on the fact that moral support should be

provided to the patients and positive stories should be shared with them to boost their morale.

Rtn. Prof. R.P. Tulsian enlightened the audience that Cancer is a curable disease. He pointed that

it is easier for a person to recover if he has a strong will power.

Dr Raksha Goel gave an elaborated overview about Cancer disease, its types, causes, prevention

and cure..Rtn. Prof. KV. Bhanumurthy highlighted on social, economic and financial aspects of

the disease Cancer.

The session concluded with the Vote of thanks by Rtn. C.A Ashwini Kumar Bhalla and Dr. SimaSingh, senior faculty of DSPSR, she presented a plant sapling as a token of appreciation to DrRaksha Goel for gracing the occasion.

WOOLEN CLOTHES DISTRIBUTION DRIVE ORGANIZED BY THE ROTARACTCLUB OF DSPSR on 3rd February, 2017

The Rotaract Club of DELHI SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES AND RESEARCH

organized a Winter Clothes Distribution Drive in the first week of February 2017 for distribution

of warm clothes among slum dwellers. The clothes which had been donated by the students as

well as faculty and non-faculty members of the college included clothes for men, women and

children. The entire event was put into action enthusiastically by the student members of the

Club who identified the Haidarpur Slum as the venue for distribution of the Winter Clothes on

3rd February, 2017. The inhabitants of the slum were very happy to see a group of young college

students carrying out such a noble initiative.

The efforts of the students were appreciated by the Director and they were motivated to carry out

such initiatives in future as well.

Seminar on Entrepreneurship Development on 31.01.2017

A one day seminar was organized by the EDC of DSPSR on “Start up Project”on January31,2017. At the beginning Dr.Moloy Ghoshal welcomed Dr.Anupama Lakhera and Ms. ManyaJain for joining in EDC Club. Dr. Moloy Ghoshal, Convener EDC, in his talk impressed upon thestudents that why the young generation should focus more on setting up their own venture ratherthan seeking a job in the corporate world. He apprised the participants about procedural issuesinvolved in starting a business including preparation of project report and submission of loanproposals. At the end Dr. Moloy showed a short film on a successful start up. A good number ofquestions were asked from the student’s side which was nicely answered by Dr.M.Ghoshal.
