OBJECTIVES

To perform the device characterization experiments using a computer interface.

To carry out characterization experiments from any remote computer on the network.

DEVICE CHARACTERIZATION Studying the characteristics of a device

Used in prediction of device behaviour in various circuit conditions

Helpful in circuit designing

VIRTUAL LAB

Conducting the experiment in Lab1. Circuit2. Power supply3. Function Generator/ Potentiometer4. Multimeter , CRO etc.

Using computer interface1. Circuit2. Power supply3. DAQ card4. LabVIEW

Remote access from another computer

ADVANTAGES OF VIRTUAL LAB

Can play with circuit parameters

Get real-time plots on the computer

Experiments can be done from anywhere

Educating large number of students

Cost savings

REMOTE COMMUNICATION

DSTP (Data Socket Transfer Protocol)

Web Publishing Tool

Page 18: Device Characterization within Virtual Lab using LabVIEW

ADVANTAGES OF WEB PUBLISHING TOOL OVER DSTP

DSTP requires IP address of the user who wants to communicate.

DSTP use UDP while Web Publishing Tool uses TCP/IP.

Web Publishing Tool does not require full installation of LabVIEW and it can be accessed through web browsers as it uses http.

FUTURE WORK

Other devices like MOSFET, medium power transistor can be used in project with small modifications.

Other experiments can be implemented in the same manner.
