Silicon carbide grains are much sharper than aluminum oxide grains creating very narrow scratches, which in turn provides for a brighter fin- ish on the part. The biggest develop- ment is a unique protruding lead- ing edge that extends l/8 in. beyond the air slot along the length of the knife. Because of this pronounced edge, the flow of air is directed out of the knife in a straight stream. This leads to an air stream that retains its integri- ty in a more controlled manner exiting the slot and maintains it further from the knife. The benefit is a uniform, high-volume, constant air stream along the entire knife length, ensuring not spotting or blotching for a higher-quality, con- sistent dry-off process. It comes in two air slot sizes, 0.040 in. for a higher impact air stream and 0.060 in. for a higher air flow. Available knife lengths are 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, and 36 in.
