Early lifeEdmund Hillary was born on the 20 July 1919 in greater Auckland.
He went to grammar school then university in Auckland. He had two sisters and one brother. They are called Peter, Sarah and Belinda. His father was called Augustus Hillary and his mum was called Gertrude.
first job
Edmund Hillary’s first job was a beekeeper, he started being a bee keeper when he was 19 years old.
After that he was in the NZ Air Force.
The Ascent of Mt Everest
Edmund Hillary was the first to climb to the top
of Mount Everest. Tenzen Norgay was his
guide.
Mount Everest is the highest Mountain on
land, it is 8,848m high.

1919-on 20 of July Edmund Hillary was born to Percival Augustus and Gertrude Hillary in Greater Auckland.
1932 -Edmund Hillary left home to be a bee keeper.
1952-He got married to Louise Mary Rose
1953-He married June.
1949- He reached the summit of Mount Everest
1955- Then He moved Taukau
1949-2008 Sir Edmund built schools, hospitals and an airstrip in Nepal.
2008- He died at Auckland Hospital

When Edmund climbed he came to the middle of the mountain. He and Tenzing Norgay only had 4 hours of oxygen left instead of going round the side he cut steps straight up.
