On September 24, 19541 Newark Confidential InformantT-1, of known reliability, stated that according to unevaluatedinformation received in GArmany from sources of unknown . relia-bility on September y, 1954, the subjects may have bean in- -volved'in the abduction into the Soviet sector of Berlin of oneFRANZ NEUGEWIER, described by T4 an being a Polish refugeeand an agent of an American sponsored intelligence service,

The following inveatAgation was conducted by SpecialAgent PHILIP. J. CARROLL • at Westville, New:Jersey:- -

. On December 3, 1954 Mrs. GRACE STARR, 271 ElmStreet, Westville, mother of th subjects, advised that shehad received a.letter. on Decemb 2. 1954 which wavdated.November 15, 1954 - from BRIGETTE AUJECK, j14-A) Ludwegsburg,Preyse Str. 2, Germany.

Previous correspondence between NAUJECK and GRACESTARR dated September 19. 1954 and . Uctober 10, 1954 indicatedthat NAUJECK had =own WILLIAM HENRY' STARR while he was inGermany and that NALJEtK was at loss to understand the subjects'•Alefection to. the Soviett... NAUJECK bad also stated that she .had written to the Ruaaian Commander in . Chief.of the East.German Sector and to the East German Press Minister in aneffort to locate the subjects. •

••• In the letter fromBAUJECK dated November 15, 1954

NAUJECK pointed out that she bad not received answeri to tierletters directed to the Russian Commander in Chief of the' •East German Sector and the East German Press Minister..

. NAUJECK also pointed out that she hid moved to •Southern Germany because it was necessary for her to giveup her studies at the Free University, Berlin and •eek em-ployment. NAUJECK also mentioned that her mother lives inthe Luesian Zone in Potsdam and is employed as a teacher.

is HENRY was introduced to me by a good girlfriend of minewhom I had met six years ago E h7 since that time have only .corresponded with, and now her uame was given by . the East

German Press. Professor in that' conferenceas someone who hadbeen working for the Communists." •

, NAILTECK identified the good girlfriend" as oneELLE ,EILRAUER who had emmigrated to the United States. .

Newark Confidential Informant T-2, - another govern-mental agency which conducts security type investigations,advised that in October, 1954 Mrs:. ELLEN ,EILISUER, of Dixon,Illinois, was interviewed regarding her : association with thesubjects and her knowledge of their activities. - In view of .NAUJECK's remarks in her November 15, /954 letter tollre.GRACE STARR describing ElliffAUER "as- se:moo:m . 4h* had beenWorking with the Communists", a resume of information furnishedtribe, EILHAUER to T-2 is set forth:

• . Mrs. EILHAUER said she Imew WILLIAM STARR as HENRY,STARR but never met his brother, JAMES, and believed JAMESbad remained in the United States. She dated STARR and lastswam for four days in Berlin during February, 1954 and shehas not seen him, nor heard frowhim, sinoe that time. She

•disclaimed any knowledge of his desertion to the East Sector,although she stated she was suspicious of the reason for hisextended stay in Germany when She noted he was in possessionof a German driver's license dated March * 1953. STARR claimedto.b4 in the television business with his brother and three.others in the United States and he claimed to be in Germanyfor the purpose of establishing connections for this company.He diiplayed no Unusual interest in international politicsnor in Mrs. EILHAUER's position, Re expressed a desire for .peace and co-existence with the Ruseians. STARR gave no

He stated •he thought the Negro was treated unfairly in the United Statesbut did not suggest Coenaudsm as a remedy, Mrs. EILHAUERstated that in her job with M.A.. she did not handle anyclassified material and she categorically denied ever havinggiven any official information to STARR and - that all mattersdiscussed with him were already public knowledge, '. •

STARR, Mrs, STARR advised t t in December,1954 she had received a letter from DULCIE X.; CAULEY, 154Burke Street, Darlinghurst, Sydney, Australia. Mrs. STARRdid not remember the date the letter was sent or postmarked.In 'the letter MC CAULEY stated that ehe Is working for theBurrough l s Company in Sidney. MG CAULLY further stated thata girlfriend, .name unknown, with whom she is acquainted,flew to Australia a -couple of weeks ago because of her father4death, This girl told AC CAULEY that the POLL had beencoming to her .house about once a week looking for MC CAULEY,In conclusion, MC CAULEY indicated that she intends to takea trip to MCWaal, Canada in March, 1955. Mrs. SENINOLI concluded by stating that DULCIEMC CAULEY had remarked shortly after the subjects had leftthe country . twit JAMES had borrowed t.200 from her..
