Bharti Foundation–

Philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies.

Set up to help underprivileged children and young people of our country to

realize their potential.

Satya Bharti School Program–

Flagship program of Bharti Foundation.

It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with

special focus on the girl child across rural India.

Goal to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over

200,000 students.

Present Operational Status–

States of Operation : Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal & Tamil

Major castes are : Meghwal, Brahman, Nai, Yadav, etc.

Dominating castes : Yadav

Main source of earning is agriculture, labor, Army personnel, etc.

About the Community:

In village Surkhpur almost all families used to take and give dowry on their children marriages. And the practice is acceptable by everyone. Most of them face problems while arranging dowry for their daughters, because of heavy demands & pressure from the other side.

As the society provides equal chances of birth, enjoy of human life, responsibility , etc to both male & female members of the society. Then why because of dowry female member of the society badly treated, fired by in-laws, regularly pressurize for dowry ????

We felt:

Only awareness and self initiation of an individual helps anyone to get rid out from this social evil.

We imagine our village is totally free from this social evil. And give equal respect & chances of living to both male & female members of the society.

We Imagine:

In place of giving dowry, investment will be on daughters education, their health, further

education, some savings for their future well being.

We Did:

•Awareness Rally with appealing slogans in the community.

•One to one counseling of individual, especially senior members of the family.

•Chaupal Meetings with youths of the village.

•Commitment with Individual.

Impact on Community: •Community member accept the practice of dowry is not good.

•Give written commitment to small champs of the village.

•Youth member of the village also support campaign, initiated by small champs of Satya Bharti School.

•They accepted that if we invest on girl child education, health. Automatically good relation will be their for any parent’s daughter.

•Students understand term “DOWRY”, how it deep rooted in the society. How it adversely effect our families and society. How it maximizes gap between husband & wife.

•Appreciation by the community helps in increasing motivation level of students.

•Appreciation by parents, guardians & teachers motivating children for initiating more campaigns on other community issue.

•This type of initiation helps children to make future leader of the good society.

Impact on Us:

•More rally in coming months.

•Poster displaying at common places of the village.

•One to one counseling of parents whose children got married in coming months.

•Involve youths of the village in the campaign especially those who have planned to got married in next 1-2 years.
