Introduction

Dhaneswar Rath Institute of Engineering &

Management Studies (DRIEMS) owes its existence to the

vision of Late Dhaneswar Rath after whom the Institution is

named. It was established in the year 1999 by the dedicated,

service minded philanthropists who had the missionary zeal

of uplifting the new generation and equipping them as

skilled technocrats to rebuild the society in a modern

scientific way.

Odisha is an attractive treasure house of cultures &

customs, religious traditions, languages, literatures, art and architecture. It has the rich

splendor of scenic beauties and wild life. In recent years Odisha is experiencing tremendous

growth in academics & industrial developments because of its rich resources, pool of talented

manpower with futuristic planning. Odisha is proud of its educational infrastructure and

academic growth.

Cuttack, also known as “The Silver City”, is one of the oldest cities in India & the

former capital of Odisha, It is one of the biggest cultural & commercial hub of the state.

The distance from Bhubaneswar to Cuttack is only 20 kms. Institutions in and around

the twin cities of Cuttack & Bhubaneswar are centers of technical and professional education.

Tangi is the exact location of DRIEMS. Far from the city crowd, DRIEMS is spread

over 160 acres of lush green campus. All programs are approved by All India Council of

Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to Biju Pattnaik University of Technology

(BPUT).

Director Professor Gyanendra Kumar Sharma joined as a lecturer in P.G.

Department of Commerce of Ravenshaw College, Cuttack in the year

1974. He is a fellow member of Institute of Cost Accounts of India. He

obtained his Ph.D. in the area of finance. He has served many

important institutions of state like Revenshaw College, BJB College,

Bhadrak College, FM College, IMIT Cuttack during his 36 years of

teaching career in the Govt. of Odisha and Biju Pattnaik University of

Technology, Odisha He has written several articles in leading Journals, served as editor of

some journals and supervised a member of Ph.D. scholars. He retired as the Professor and

HoD of MBA of BPUT (IMIT) in the year 2010. He skillfully carries out various

responsibilities in the field of management to ensure that students attain all round

development and growth.

their work and in the work of others. Students, as colleagues in learning, have a responsibility

to document their own work and to report other incidents of academic dishonesty or

negligence.

Faculty and staff cooperation is necessary to ensure academic integrity, and they

should serve as a model for their students. Syllabi should include their expectations and the

College policy, course materials should be cited.

Incidents of academic dishonesty is addressed and reported in a timely fashion. The

Knowledge Garden (Central Library)

Enriching the mind.....

The Central Library at DRIEMS spans over 6000

sq.ft. It is situated in the hub of the DRIEMS campus.

The library has a seating capacity of over 115. There

are 21143 volumes of books covering all areas of

Engineering, Basic Science, Humanities, etc. Apart

from that there are 11 National Journals, 33

magazines and 04 International Journals. The library

subscribes to 7 leading English, Oriya & Hindi

dailies. Besides, DRIEMS is a member of INDEST-

CONSORTIUM where our users get easy access to Journals of Electrical Sciences.

The library is well equipped with all modern facilities and resources in the form of

CDs, video cassettes, books, journals, magazines, e-journals, internet & reprography

facilities.

All the documents are classified and arranged according to Dewey Decimal

Classification (DDC) scheme and a good number of current Journals are procured for

the library. The library has also back issues of Journals which are categorized into

separate volumes and are available for reference purpose only. The library follows

Open Access System.

AUTOMATION

The library activities are fully automated using Smart Library System & Visual Basic

library software. As stated earlier the library is a member of INDEST-AICET

Consortium. Through this Consortium, our research scholars, students and faculty

members have easy access to International Journals published by IEEE, etc.

There is a department library in each department with a good collection of books. The

staff and students use the department libraries regularly.

Auditorium

Vast Space for fun and fiesta.....

All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy. We do

believe in the age-old saying and thus we provide a

large platform for our students to showcase their

talents in music, drama, dance and other cultural

activities. DRIEMS has a 600-seated air-conditioned

auditorium and a large open air theatre. This theatre

boasts of an ultra modern sound system, which is capable of being reconfigured to

suit to different needs. So be it rock „n roll or the soft nuances of Indian classical

music, it never fails to ignite your senses. The stage has a full-fledged lighting system

with dozens of spots, flood lights & dimmers.

Wi-Fi Campus

The college has a 24 hours leased 6 mbps (Broad Band) internet connectivity. The

departments are networked with LAN/WAN, connecting all the labs, staff rooms and

library. The Network Operations Centre is equipped with five IBM servers and one

HCL Net Manager configured as file servers and hosts for the different software.

Ample computing facilities are provided linking each student with a PC. There are

more than 400 computers with latest configuration in all the labs. The campus has

become a WIRELESS CAMPUS by implementing WI- FI technology ie students and

staff of DRIEMS can access the complete network and browse internet sitting

anywhere in the campus by using LAPTOPS.

Hostel

Home away from home.....

Experience a home away from your home in our hostels. There is a separate hostel for

girls and boys situated within the campus. The rooms are spacious, well furnished,

self contained and duly maintained. It also has the unique telecom facility for

incoming calls only.

There are however, a set of rules and regulations that have to be strictly adhered to.

All provisions are made to ensure students enjoy their stay here! The hostels have

self-contained two / three seater rooms which are spacious, airy and provide for a

great view. They come with the basic amenities like bed, table, chair and electrical

fittings with 24-hour water supply also. Recreation hall with facilities for indoor

games like chess and carom encourages students to make good use of their leisure

time. Several newspapers as well as magazines are subscribed and TV is also

provided to get them relaxed during leisure and also to get them updated. The

Computer Centre and Library are kept open for residents of the hostel.

Canteen

The hangout …..

The Institute has a well maintained canteen which is

the refreshment center for the students. The canteen

caters to all aspects of food i.e Chinese, Western and

Indian foods. Moreover, canteen is the best meeting

place for the entire mass for a hangout.

Transport Service

The World is a drive away.....

DRIEMS has its own fleet of 50 buses which caters

to the transport needs of students, staff and visiting

guests and provides links from campus to Cuttack

and Bhubaneswar. In addition to this, ten cars / vans

are available for use by the staff and Guests.

Staying physically fit and mentally refreshed is a pre-requisite for every student.

There is a Sports Centre, functioning to ensure the needs of sports activities of all the

Institutes in our educational complex. A large playground in the campus is well

equipped for cricket, hockey, football, basketball and other Indian games. It is the

training and facilities that have helped DRIEMS in bringing laurels at various

competitions. The latest facilities consist of swimming pool, billiards, squash court,

badminton, table tennis, gymnastics & various indoor games.

There's a health care center and clinic on campus where qualified medical

professionals provide medical assistance with warmth and care. DRIEMS has also

appointed a Medical Officer for its clinic. Medical facilities are available round the
