AMERICAN Ductile Iron Flanged Fittings
The principal standard covering anged ttings is ANSI/AWWA C110/A21.10. 5464 anged ttings are covered in ANSI/AWWA C153/A21.53. These and other standards are referenced throughout this section either by the full ANSI/AWWAdesignation or by only the AWWA numbering, such as AWWA C110 or C153.
AMERICAN produces a complete line ofstandard as well as specialized flanged fittingsfor various types of service including water, sewage, and air.
Fittings ANSI/AWWA C110/A21.10 Most of the flanged fittings furnished byAMERICAN are manufactured in accordancewith the requirements of this standard. Thetables in this section in which these fittingsare listed have heading ANSI/AWWA C110/
A21.10. The AWWA C110 fitting flangeshave facing and drilling that match AWWAC115 threaded-on flanges (see Section 8) andalso match ANSI B16.1 Class 125 flanges. AMERICAN manufactures some fittingsthat are not included in AWWA C110 includinglong radius 90 bends, reducing bends, wyes, and various other fittings that are commonlyused in plant piping. These have AWWA C110flanges and are listed in the tables with head-ing AMERICAN Standard. The pressure rat-ings shown are AMERICAN standard and arebased on AWWA C110 design principles. The AWWA C110 flanges are adequatefor a water working pressure of 250 psi withthe body of the fitting being suitable for 150psi or 250 psi, as indicated in the tables. Insome cases, these fittings have been suppliedfor greater water working pressure applica-tions, particularly when used with AMERICANTorusealgaskets.
Fittings ANSI/AWWA C153/A21.53 54, 60 and 64 fittings are manu-factured in accordance with AWWA C153.These fittings are compact, and the bodiesare essentially the same as ISO 2531 fittingsin these sizes. Tables including these sizeswill include C153/A21.53 in the heading.Flanges match AWWA C115 and ANSI B16.1(Class 125) flanges and are adequate for a wa-ter working pressure of 250 psi. (64 flangesmatch 66 flanges. See Table No. 6-1.) Thebodies of these fittings are suitable for 150
psi or 250 psi as indicated in the tables. Insome cases, these fittings have been suppliedfor greater water working pressure applica-tions, particularly when used with AMERICANTorusealgaskets.
Fittings Class 250 F&D Except for a transition piece from an ANSIB16.1 Class 250 flange to a standard AWWAC110 flange, AMERICAN no longer makes fit-tings with flanges faced and drilled per ANSIB16.1 Class 250. As noted in AWWA C111,flange joints in the 24 and smaller sizes maybe rated for up to 350 psi with the use of spe-cial gaskets such as AMERICANs Toruseal.
Furthermore, AMERICAN is able to rateflange pipe and fittings higher than 250 oreven 350 psi on special applications. Infor-mation on fittings Class 250 F&D previouslyfurnished by AMERICAN can be found in theHistorical Data Section of this Pipe Manual.
AMERICAN offers a complete line of 4 through 64 flanged pipe and fittings fortreatment plant piping.

General Notes Relating to Flanged Fittings
1. Fittings in the following tables head-ed ANSI/AWWA C110/A21.10 or C153/A21.53 are as specified in these standards, except as noted. Fittings listed in tables head-ed AMERICAN Standard are either not in-cluded in this ANSI/AWWA standard or vary inweights and/or dimensions. AMERICAN doesnot manufacture any fittings to the require-ments of ANSI B16.1 except for laying dimen-sions, and facing and drilling as specificallynoted. 2. Fittings are manufactured of duc-
tile iron grade 70-50-05 (minimum tensilestrength: 70,000 psi; minimum yield strength:50,000 psi; minimum elongation: 5%) as speci-fied in AWWA C110 or C153. 3. Flanges can be tapped for studs whenspecified. (See Section 8, Table No. 8-3.) 4. All pressure ratings shown are for waterservice. 5. Unless otherwise specified, flanges willhave bolt holes straddling centerline. Bolt holedrilling can be rotated when so specified. 6. Center-to-face dimensions of reducingtees and crosses, with or without side outlet, and of reducing wyes are as follows (See TableNo. 6-2).
a. 16 and smaller sizes have the samecenter-to-face dimensions as straight sizes cor-responding to the size of the largest opening. b. The center-to-face dimensions of 18and larger sizes are governed by the size ofthe branch or side outlet; for fittings with bothbranch and side outlet, the larger of the twogoverns. 7. Tees, crosses and wyes, reducing on therun only, have the same dimensionscenter-to-face and face-to-face as straight sizefittings corresponding to the size of the largestopening. 8. Reducing bends have the same center-to-face dimensions as straight size bends cor-responding to the size of the largest opening.
9. Reducers and eccentric reducers for allreductions have the same face-to-face dimen-sion, based on the larger opening.
10. Flanged fittings are manufactured tothe following tolerances: Flange thickness Sizes 2-12 inclusive, 0.12 in. Sizes 14-24 inclusive, 0.19 in. Sizes 30-64 inclusive, 0.25 in. Laying Length Sizes 2-10 inclusive, 0.06 in.
Sizes 12-64 inclusive, 0.12 in. Laying length tolerances are for face-to-face dimensions; the center-to-face tolerancesare one half of the face-to-face tolerances. 11. The largest opening of the fitting gov-erns the laying length tolerances for all open-ings. For compliance with the flange thicknesstolerance, flanges may be back faced or spotfaced, AMERICANs option. 12. Some fittings are available with bodymetal thickness other than as listed. Some fit-tings are available in different sizes and withdifferent size combinations than shown. Allsizes and body metal thicknesses listed may notbe available due to changes in foundry prac-
tice. Check AMERICAN regarding any specialrequirements. 13. Weights of fittings can vary due tochanges in foundry practice. 14. See Section 7 for AMERICAN specials. 15. AMERICAN may furnish fittings man-ufactured by others. Any such fittings will bemanufactured in accordance with appropriateANSI/AWWA Standards. 16. While AWWA C153 shows 54-64with 150 psi ratings, AMERICAN rates most54-64 fittings 250 psi as AMERICAN stan-dard based on performance testing.

AMERICAN Ductile Iron Flanged Fittings
Applications of Standard Fittings
In many cases, special fittings for various conditions are required. Some of the morecommon of these are shown above in columns headed Required. Under the columnsheaded Alternate, are shown combinations of standard fittings that in some situations
will provide the desired connection. For economy and/or shipment from stock, it is oftenadvantageous to use the standard fittings.*Note:In lieu of tees, blow-off branches, and wyes (and particularly those with reduced-size branches), the designer should consider for optimum design, layout, and installationthe use of fabricated outlet pipe, tangential outlet pipe, and lateral outlets as explainedin Sec. 7.

Table No. 6-1
**The dimensions of 64 ange correspond with applicable dimensions of 66 Class E in ANSI/AWWA C207, and 64 ductile iron angescan be connected to those anges. FACING:Flanges are plain faced and are nished smooth or with shall ow serrations (AMERICANs option). BACK FACING:Flanges may be back faced or spot faced, AMERICANs option, for compliance wi th the ange thickness tolerance. FLANGES:The anges shown above are adequate for water service of 250 psi working pressure and should not be confused withClass 250 anges per ANSI B16.1. The bolt circle and the bolt holes match those of ANSI B16.1 Class 125. If anges are required to be made inaccordance with other ratings or other standards, this must be specied on the purchase order. 24 and smaller anges are rated equal to thettings to which they are attached and are adequate for water service of greater than 350 psi only with the use of AMERICANs Torusealgaskets. Drilling of anges can be rotated when required; for those sizes with an even number of bolt holes in each quadrant, tting can be rotated45 with standard drilling. AMERICAN recommends AMERICAN Toruseal gaskets shown on page 621 be used for normal water service. See Section 8, Table No. 83 for information on bolts and studs. See General Notes on page 62.

**AMERICAN Standard. (5464 ttings are rated for only 150 psi in AWWA C153.) Numerals on cuts indicate standard order of specifying size of tting. The dimensions and weights of concentric and eccentric reducers are normally the same. If the order does notspecify an eccentric reducer, then a concentric reducer will be furnished. Eccentric reducers are available in most of thesizes listed. At the present time, the F dimension of 54 eccentric reducers is 54. Thicknesses and weights arealso different. Check AMERICAN for details.

Flanged Reducers
CAUTION: When Installing Flanged Reducers The two flanges on most reducers have a different number of bolt holes, andall adjacent bolt holes do not straddle a centerline common to both flanges. The centerline of the reducer is marked by notches on the circumference ofeach flange, and installation must be made in reference to this centerline. This wouldalso be applicable with most Reducing Flanges and Reducing Flange Fillers.

Numerals on cuts indicate standard order of specifying size of tting. Wyes are special. Substituting a pipe with a lateral weldedon outlet may be more economical and offer quickershipment. See Section 7 or contact AMERICAN. A tee with a 45 bend may also offer quicker shipment. The centertoface designations M, N and P are used for straight size wyes as well as reducing wyes; however, in
Table No. 62 the letters D and E are used for specifying centertoface dimensions for straight size wyes. See General Notes on page 62.

*Pressure rating designated is maximum water working pressure and is based on the maximum rating of C110,C115 or C153 anges. AMERICAN Torusealgaskets meet the description of specially designed gaskets shown in theappendices of AWWA C110, C111, and C115, and special gaskets shown in the body of AWWA C111. **Bolt torque applicable only to joints with Torusealgaskets. The 64 Torusealgasket contains an additional torus to accommodate bolting a 64 C115 or C153 ange to astandard 66 ange (see Table 61).AMERICAN Torusealgaskets are normally black and furnished of SBR rubber per ANSI/AWWA
C111/A21.11. This rubber compound is NSF 61 certied for contact with potable water and isotherwise physically superior to red rubber sometimes used with anged joints. Other types of rubberare available on special order. Clean ange faces and faced pipe ends thoroughly prior to installation. Do not use joint or gasketcompounds with Torusealgaskets (assemble joints dry). In addition to normal anged piping, AMERICAN Torusealgaskets are required for use with suspended joints inspecially designed longspan installations (i.e., spans involving 2 or 3 lengths of pipe). See Section 7 for details. For use with standard ange bolts. Holes match AWWA C110, C111, and C115 ange drilling. They also matchcertain ange drilling classes of AWWA C207 and ANSI B16.1 and B16.42 anges.

*Not included in AWWA C110 or C153. Bases are faced and drilled only when specied. Dimension R is nished dimension; unnished bases will beslightly longer. For supporting pipe sizes see Table No. 622. For base drilling see Table No. 621. See tables on preceding pages for dimensions and weights of all tees. Base dimensions and weights are the samefor full opening tees and for reducing tees. Proper base is determined by largest opening. To compute total weight ofreducing base tee, add weight of base only (shown above) to weight of reducing tee of size and class as selected frompreceding tables. To order base tees reducing on the branch, specify sizes in proper order and give gure number shownabove. Bases other than shown abovesuch as on the side of ttingare special and may be available on 30 and largerbends. Some available base locations are shown on page 65. Check AMERICAN for special base locations. Bases of these ttings are intended for support in compression and are not to be used for thrust anchors or supports in tension, bending, or shear. See General Notes on page 62.
