LITURGY OF THE WORDFIRST READING (proclaimed in Spanish) Acts 6:1-7bAs the number of disciples continued to grow, the Hellenists complained against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. So the Twelve called together the community of the disciples and said, “It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table. Brothers, select from among you seven reputable men, filled with the Spirit and wisdom, whom we shall appoint to this task, whereas we shall devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” The proposal was acceptable to the whole community, so they chose Stephen, a man filled with faith and the Holy Spirit, also Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicholas of Antioch, a convert to Judaism. They presented these men to the apostles who prayed and laid hands on them. The word of God continued to spread, and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly; even a large group of priests were becoming obedient to the faith. Lector: Palabra de Dios. All: Te alabamos, Señor.
RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 89:2-3, 6-7, 16-17R./ Cantaré eternamente las misericordias del Señor. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
SECOND READING (proclaimed in Creole) 1 Peter 5:5b-14Beloved: Clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for: God opposes the proud but bestows favor on the humble. So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you. Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your brothers and sisters throughout the world undergo the same sufferings. The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ Jesus will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little. To him be dominion forever. Amen. I write you this briefly through Silvanus, whom I consider a faithful brother, exhorting you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Remain firm in it. The chosen one at Babylon sends you greeting, as does Mark, my son. Greet one another with a loving kiss. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.Lector: Sa a se Pawòl Bondye Granmèt la ki gen tout pouvwa a.All: Mèsi Bondye mèsi.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATIONFestival Alleluia James ChepponisR./ Alleluia, Alleluia
GOSPEL (proclaimed in English) Mark 16:15-20Deacon: The Lord be with you. All: And with your spirit.
Deacon: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark. All: Glory to you, O Lord.
Deacon: The Gospel of the Lord. All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Sit

COMMUNION HYMNO God You Search Me and You Know Me Bernadette Farrell O God, you search me and you know me. All my thoughts lie open to your gaze. When I walk or lie down, you are before me, Ever the maker and keeper of my days. You know my resting and my rising. You discern my purpose from afar, And with love everlasting you besiege me: In ev’ry moment of life or death, you are. Before a word is on my tongue, Lord, You have known its meaning through and through. You are with me beyond my understanding: God of my present, my past and future too. Although your Spirit is upon me, Still I search for shelter from your light. There is nowhere on earth I can escape you:Even the darkness is radiant in your sight. For you created me and shaped me, Gave me life within my mother’s womb. For the wonder of who I am, I praise you: Safe in your hands, all creation is made new. O God, you search me and you know me. All my thoughts lie open to your gaze. When I walk or lie down, you are before me, Ever the maker and keeper of my days.
Aleluya.

RECESSIONAL HYMNO God Beyond All Praising Gustav HolstO God beyond all praising, we worship you todayAnd sing the love amazing that songs cannot repay; For we can only wonder at ev’ry gift you send,At blessings without number and mercies without end.We lift our hearts before you and wait upon your word;We honor and adore you, our great and mighty Lord. The flow’r of earthly splendor in time must surely die,Its fragile bloom surrender to you, the Lord most high; But hidden from all nature the eternal seed is sown,Though small in mortal stature to heaven’s garden grown. For Christ, the man from heaven, from death has set us free,And we through him are given the final victory! Then hear, O gracious Savior, accept the love we bring,That we who know your favor may serve you as our King; And whether our tomorrows be filled with good or ill,We’ll triumph through our sorrows and rise to bless you still,To marvel at your beauty and glory in your ways,And make a joyful duty our sacrifice of praise.
