ADDRESS SWITCHES

Bit 16 is not used. It can be either ‘0’ or ‘1’.

Bit 15 is ‘0’ if the digital card monitors the entry point of a section. Bit 15 is ‘1’ if the digital card monitors the exit point of a section. Bit 14 is ‘0’ if the digital card monitors a straight section. Bit 14 is ‘1’ if the digital card monitors a point zone. Bit 13 is ‘0’ to provide preparatory reset facility to the section. Bit 13 is ‘1’ to provide hard reset facility to the section. Bit 12 is ‘0’ to provide single-point reset facility to the section. Bit 12 is ‘1’ to provide two-point (co-operative) reset facility to the section. First 11 bits, i.e., bit 1 to bit 11 are used to set address (binary) for the corresponding digital card. The address of detection point monitoring entry point of a section must be lower than the address of the detection point monitoring exit point of the same section. The addresses must be sequential without any gap.

Address setting for 2 DP 1 Sec (Straight Line) with single point preparatory reset In the above figure, ATS1, a straight section, is monitored by DP1 and DP2. According to RCD, DP1 is monitoring the entry point while DP2 is monitoring the exit point of the section. Thus DP1 must have a lower address than DP2.

In order to provide single point preparatory reset facility to ATS1 (for example, in berthing section), the addresses of DP1 and DP2 will be as follows: Address of DP1: 00000000 00000001 00000000 00000001 Address of DP2: 01000000 00000010 01000000 00000010

Address setting for 2 DP 1 Sec (Straight Line) with two point preparatory reset In the above figure, ATS1, a straight section, is monitored by DP1 and DP2. In order to provide two-point (co-operative) preparatory reset facility to ATS1 (for example, in block section), the addresses of DP1 and DP2 will be as follows: Address of DP1: 00001000 00000001 00001000 00000001 Address of DP2: 01001000 00000001 01001000 00000001

Maintenance of Rail Contact

During periodical adjustment (a) Use the torque wrench, supplied with the test equipment (ETU001) for fixing and adjusting the rail contact. (b) Always apply proper torque (25Nm for M8 bolts and 45Nm for M12 bolts) for fixing the rail contact and Tx heads after adjustment. (c) Use the Dummy Wheel supplied with the test equipment (ETU001) for adjusting the voltages. (d) While adjusting rectified voltages, make MESSAB (+) maximum by rotating the potentiometer. Then adjust voltages mechanically. Touch the potentiometer again only for fine tuning. (e) The difference between MESSAB (+) and MESSAB (-), after adjustment, must not exceed 40mV DC. (f) Use only WAGO screw driver for terminating cables.

Never use spanner/box spanner. Never apply greater or less torque. Never use any other object, like, metal plate etc. to adjust the voltages. Never try to adjust voltages by rotating the potentiometers only. The adjusted voltages, in that case, will not be stable. Too much difference between MESSAB (+) and MESSAB (-) will make the system unstable. Never use any other screw drivers. They may break the WAGO connectors.

Don’ts

Plugging-in and plugging-out of cards

During maintenance (a) Always plug-in/plug-out Analog or Digital card in EAK in power off state.

Plugging-in/out of Analog card and Digital card in power on condition will damage the cards.

Address setting of EAK

If a Motherboard needs to be replaced, set the address switches as it was in the original Motherboard.

Wrong address setting will make the system non-functional.

Power Supply

During periodical maintenance, ensure that the ripple voltage of power supply does not exceed 20 mV AC.

Too much ripple will make the system unstable.

Trouble shooting

During failure, always observe the LED indication on Digital Card to locate the source of problem quickly.
