Steps taken by the test performer

1- Choose the vehicle category (TRUCK,BUS,CARS,TRANSPORTER OR V-CLASS)

Page 2: Diagnostic Tool

2- Choose the class of the vehicle …here we chose the ‘C-CLASS ‘

Page 3: Diagnostic Tool

3-choose the year model…here we chose ‘year 2003’

Page 4: Diagnostic Tool

4-the program ensure of the manufacture date of the vehicle and you can enter it manually

Page 5: Diagnostic Tool

5-choose the type of the vehicle sedan or T-model or sport coupe…..we chose the SEDAN type

6-choose the type of engine whether it is a diesel or gasoline ….we chose it to be DIESEL

Page 6: Diagnostic Tool

7-choose the type of steering of the vehicle ….we chose it to be left-hand steering

8- choose vehicle class….we chose it to be Normal C-CLASS ‘C 180’

Page 7: Diagnostic Tool

9-choose to which country this vehicle is directed …we chose it to be the REST OF THE WORLD

10 -A list will appear asking you what you want to do ….we chose QUICK TEST

Page 8: Diagnostic Tool

11-since we are making a quick test and the vehicle is not connected the program detects faults in every system of the vehicle

12-we will take a fault related to engine…..ME-SFI-MOTOR ELECTRONICS

Page 9: Diagnostic Tool

13- we will pick one of order of the list according to our needs for example in this case we have a problem in the engine but we don’t know what is the cause of it so we chose SYMPOTMS OF SYSTEM

14-A list of possible engine symptoms will appear pick any of it according to your fault ….we chose it to be POOR THROTTLE REPONSE OF ENGINE DURING WARMING-UP PAHSE

Page 10: Diagnostic Tool

15-alist of possible causes for the fault will appear …we chose ‘UNMETERED AIR’

16- A message will appear asking you to check weather if there is a leakage in the system ..and this is done by SELF-ADAPTATION actual values

17- we return to the list of possible causes and assume the fault is in the ‘MAF sensor ‘

Page 11: Diagnostic Tool

18- performing a check on the MAF sensor

You have the option to check the sensor voltage supply and a it’s actual values …we preferred to check the actual values of the MAF sensor

19-a screen appears telling you about the test prerequisite and the values that you should read and compare and the specific value range at the given conditions also the program asks you if the actual values you read are ok ..we chose it to be NO ..press F4

A list of possible causes and remedy will appear…if all causes are absent then the MAF sensor is spoiled

Page 12: Diagnostic Tool

20-return to the ME MOTOR ELECTROICS screen …choose complete list of guided test

21- we will perform the balance test through injectors …choose the first injector

Page 13: Diagnostic Tool

22- A safety note shows up telling you about the precaution you should consider while doing this test after that you are able to choose the type of test you want …since we are doing a balancing test we chose the second test (injector shutoff)

23- a note appears telling you about the prerequisite of the test

Page 14: Diagnostic Tool

24 Finally ..the program tells you that you are trying cylinder number ‘1’…the program has the reading of the RPM of the engine at idling.. a remark is made by the program tells you what happens to the idle speed when you turn off injector in cylinder ‘1’

When performing this test you should notice the amount of RPM the idle speed decreased by, if cylinder ‘1’ is okay go check the rest of cylinders ‘2,3,4’
