And then we moved to

Today's consumers have a great deal more information on homes and the home buying and selling process than they had in the past, thanks to the Internet. How will you work with these empowered, savvy home buyers and sellers? (May 2007)

So What’s NAR saying about Today’s Consumer

I think the consumer is not looking for the #1 REALTOR® anymore. More and more they are doing their homework before they pick up the phone, send that email or opt in online; not by asking friends and family alone, but by looking at the Agents digital footprint. They want us to humanize our online marketing and businesses so they have a good understanding of who we are before they pick up the phone.

Consumers who select a Real Estate Professional to sell a property are going to start questioning the digital footprint the agent will create for the property. With the National Association of REALTORS® stating 100% of all homes viewed online, consumers should expect us to use the most means to help sellers get the solutions they seek.

1. Creating an online presence is the most basic reason for building a website. This means building a site that includes your business information, highlights what makes you special, and gives consumers a way to contact you.2. Making your business stand out takes a more advanced strategy. Maintaining a blog that portrays your thoughts and insights can help your website stand out and help consumers better understand your business.3. A good business website can be used to capture potential leads. As the site grows it becomes a community for customers and potential consumers. Connect with potential consumers and find a way to continue marketing to them. Your website can be the elevator pitch and your connection the long sell.

Relevance. When Google was founded, one key innovation was PageRank, a technology that determined the “importance” of a webpage by looking at what other pages link to it, as well as other data. Today we use more than 200 signals, including PageRank, to order websites, and we update these algorithms on a weekly basis. For example, we offer personalized search results based on your web history and location.

Comprehensiveness. Google indexes billions and billions of webpages, and our index is roughly 100 million gigabytes. We continue investing to expand the comprehensiveness of our services. In 2007 we introduced Universal Search, which made search more comprehensive by integrating images, videos, news, books and more into our main search results.

Freshness. In the early days, Googlebots crawled the web every three or four months, which meant that the information you found on Google typically was out of date. Today we’re continually crawling the web ensuring that you can find the latest news, blogs and status updates minutes or even seconds after they’re posted. With Realtime Search, we’re able to serve up breaking topics from a comprehensive set of sources just moments after events occur.
