Please express my ap-preciation to all whoplanned, organized, and participated in theservices Thursdayevening. It was excel-lent in all respects.Bill Johnson

    DEAR LIZ,

WE ARE DELIGHTED THAT FOLKS WILL HAVE AN ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITYTO PARTICIPATE IN THE JOURNEY TO THE CROSS TONIGHT. IT IS TRULY ANAMAZING AND POWERFUL EXPERIENCE AND ONE THAT REQUIRED MUCH OFTHOSE INVOLVED IN MAKING IT HAPPEN. THE TESTIMONY OF YOUR LOVE FORCHRIST AND HIS CHILDREN WAS EVIDENT AT EVERY STATION. YOU ARE ATREASURED GIFT TO THIS CHURCH FAMILY AND WE THANK GOD FOR YOU.

    PEGGY HARVEY

Liz, Deborah, and all of the helpers that made the Journey to the Cross a very humbling andrewarding experience. It was very moving for Becky and I and although Kendal is 6, we feltas though she obtained a greater understanding of our Lord and Savior and the concept of sin

and its impact on our daily lives. Outstanding job to all.

    Thank you.

    Jim Wightman

Liz Im still thinking about Journey to the Cross this morning and how powerful and

meaningful the experience was for me. To think that I had almost missed it has over-whelmed me. How often we miss the message, even when its right there just for thetaking. I sat thinking in the room of sin for quite some time. And then in my devotionsthis morning was this scripture Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness. (1Timothy 4:7)

Thanks to you and all those involved in creating the journey. Iris LewisIris LewisIris LewisIris Lewis

Denbigh Presbyterian Pre-Kindergarten was awarded a four star quality rating throughthe Virginia Star Quality Initiative! The Office of Early Childhood Development and VirginiaEarly Childhood Foundation worked together to create the Quality Rating and Improvement

    System.

A rater came to visit four different classes on separate days in late January and earlyFebruary. She was looking at everything from the types and frequency of interactions betweenstaff members and students (for example: questioning techniques, greetings, conversations atsnack time, etc.) to the numbers of specific materials on hand for the children to use (for ex-ample: the number of blocks, art materials, cozy areas, etc.). In addition, the rater asked ques-tions of the staff regarding training, evaluations, private areas for staff and their belongings, and the general climate of the school. Paperwork was submitted that documented the staff tochild ratios, teacher qualifications and training, and other program information.

All of this information was put together into a report and a rating that wasawarded in April. The rating categories and our scores for each can be viewed at the QRISwebsite: http://epm.virginiainteractive.org/qris/result.aspx?id=471&template=sb.master

I am so proud to say that we earned a four star rating, and at the time I am writing thiswe actually scored the most points of any program that has been evaluated in Newport News!I am so happy with the staff and the program here at Denbigh Presbyterian, and I hope thatyou will join me in congratulating our teachers!
