Food enters the system through your mouth. You chew it with your teeth. We call this process MASTICATION.

With the help of the saliva, the food is soften, and passes to the esophagus.

It pushes the food to the stomach, where stomach muscles mix it with chemicals. Food becomes CHYME.

Chyme enters to the small intestine.

The walls of the small intestine soak chyme up and it is absorbed and enters to your blood through blood vessels in the intestine’s walls.

What ever is not absorbed in the Small Intestine moves on to the Large Intestine.

The large intestine draws water out of chyme, and the matter that remains leaves the body as solid waste.
