Following steady expansion the communications giant decided to combine both operations under one roof in a new 11-story corporate headquarters. In line with the company’s global commitment to green initiatives Digicel embarked on this project with the goal of creating the “greenest office building in the Caribbean.” The new headquarters is a world class, mixed-use commercial development located near the waterfront in downtown Kingston. BuroHappold Engineering worked closely with the architect to provide both MEP engineering and lighting design services for the 149,242ft 2 state of the art development which also incorporates a data center and a restaurant. Our team designed numerous environmentally friendly and energy saving features such as rainwater reuse, novel and lower usage plumbing fixtures and low power consumption lighting systems using LEDs. Daylighting is also maximized and controlled through shading louvers on the building’s exterior, reducing solar gains as well as the need for artificial lighting. An automated building management system has also been incorporated to improve operability and manage energy demand. The result is a cutting edge, low carbon facility that supports the Digicel brand and provides a workplace that enhances employee comfort and productivity. DIGICEL HEADQUARTERS KINGSTON, JAMAICA

Since its launch in 2001, the Digicel Group has operated from two separate offices in Kingston. Following steady expansion the communications giant decided to combine both operations under one roof in a new 11-story corporate headquarters. In line with the company’s global commitment to green initiatives Digicel embarked on this project with the goal of creating the “greenest office building in the Caribbean.”

The new headquarters is a world class, mixed-use commercial development located near the waterfront in downtown Kingston. BuroHappold Engineering worked closely with the architect to provide both MEP engineering and lighting design services for the 149,242ft2 state of the art development which also incorporates a data center and a restaurant.
