The black keys- El Camino Album cover

Colours: This is the first page in the digipack. The album cover has an orange grade to make the cover look warmer. This has the effect where everything looksmore appealing to the eye. The main reason behind this is the fact that the car called El Camino (name of the album)is a Spanish name and Spain Is a hot country. The origin of the car was from ford Australia, Australia also being a very hot country.Layout: The shot type is a long shot of the car so that you can see the whole vehicle as well as environment that it is in. The car in this album cover is framed so that the Car is center frame, So there is the same amount of area either side of the car for example the area above the car is the same size as the area that is shown underneath the car.Genre: as far as the genre is concerned the album cover doesn’t portray blues rockor any conventions and doesn’t have any relation to the music at all. Unlike other albums that might have a song that is called the same name as their album.Branding the artist: This album cover brands the artist as a band that doesn’t care much for conventions and just do what they want becuase they find it funny for example.

Inside the digipackThis is the back of the album as you can see it has the same colour as the first one has used, the layout is the same and as is the genre and branding the artist and as you can see under this text the inside of the digipack is the exact same apart from there is no text, just more pictures of an cars.

Inside the digipackAnother thing that the digipack photos have done in relation to the layout and colour, is the time of day that the photos where taken. All the shadows are the same so that there is continuity between the photos. Each picture od the cars would have been taken mid day when the sun is at its highest point in the sky.

Gorillaz- Gorillaz Colour: The colours used in this are interesting as the car that is on the front of this page is a camouflaged green which should normally be used to make something hidden. But this car is deliberately on a white background so it stands out. As does the red writing of the the band and album name. Because of this reason the album cover will stand out and catch peoples attention, as from a distance you cant tell what is on the front of the album because the main part of it is camouflaged. It will entice people to have a look.Layout: the position of the car is central so the car is surrounded by white which again will make this album cover stand out. The car is also positioned as though it is about to drive past so that we can see most of the car and people inside of it from the front.Genre: The album covers doesn’t follow certain genre conventions for example electronica album covers are genuinely bright and colourful which this is not. It does however follow the alternative hip hop genre with the art work that is used for this cover.Branding the artist: This album cover represents how interesting the band members are. This is because they don’t show there faces so it brands the artists as people to be curious off.

Inside the digipackInside the digipack is something a bit different than the album cover colour wise. As you can see from the picture the main bulk of the digipack is the random pictures. Some of the pictures represent song names but most of them are just artwork of the cartoon band members. This pictures follow more the electronica conventions with the bright and colourful colours used. The picture on the left is writing about the album production and people who helped to make the CD. This is a normal digipack convention to have.

The Vintage Caravan- Voyage

Colour: The album cover demonstrates the genre that this band is. This is done by the image being so crazy and imaginative that has been made with bright colourful colours which makes the image that more clear on the image that the band are going for.Layout: the layout of this album cover is really straight forward in the fact that this is an image that has been created to represent something that someone might be thinking when under the influence of drugs. Genre: This album cover is really colourful which conforms with conventions of their genre which is psychedelic rock. This is because psychedelic rock is part of the psychedelic culture where they take mind altering drugs, listen to music and art such as artwork such as this album cover that the artist has done to replicate this.Branding the artist: This album artwork has really branded the artists in the psychedelic culture. This culture take mid altering drugs, listen to music and make a artwork that have a certain look, sound and feel to them

Inside the digipackThe digipack is a common digipack in the fact that it has the lyrics to all their songs in the album. A lot of bands digipack do this so this album is conforming to digipack conventions. This is the inside of the digipack on the left which demonstrates points made in for the album cover. For example the song expand your mind is about taking a drug which makes you “trip”. This digipack also conforms to conventions as it has a picture of the band members which is another common thing to have in a digipack. The picture To the right is also another typical conventionas it is thanking people and has the names of people who helped make the album like the band members and the artist for example.

Inside the CD case and the back of the CD

The song on the right hand side of the cd is another example of a song that talks about drugs yet again conforming to the genre conventions. The Cd artwork does the same as does the back of the album.
