Digipak Analysis
• A digipak is the name of the covering for a CD. My digipak will use some of the conventions of a typical R&B digipak. In order for me to produce an effective digipak, I have analysed the conventions of a digipak.
Features of a digipak• An album cover- this is usually an image of the artist with the album title and artist name on it.
The images for female R&B singers can sometimes be sexualise to increase “male gaze” which links to the theory that sex sells.
In my chosen genre (R&B) the album cover tends to focus a lot more on the artist’s image by using glamour and airbrushed images.
Features of a digipak• Copyright information, record label logo & Parental advisory logo (if needed)
The copyright logo is seen on digipaks either at the front or the back.
At the back there is always a logo of the record label distributing the album
On the album cover there might be a parental advisory logo, only if it is required. This shows that the album contains mature content and younger buyers may require their parents permission to purchase the album.
Features of a digipakInside the booklet:
Images of the artist. The images may follow a theme which links to the track list
A small bio of the artist to inform new fans about the artist or to let old fans discover information they didn’t know.
