NICOLE SHERZINGERHere, we can see the track list on the back of the digipak. This is in order to inform the customer of the tracks on the album, as well as promote them individually.

The barcode. Every time an album is brought, the record sales will be passed on to the record label and recorded to measure success.

Copyright/record label and management info.

This strip is important because it informs the customer of the CD from a side view – so they know what it is.

Artist pictures: These pictures of Nicole are simple yet attractive, and the theme seems to be the pink/peach font colour and dark background – making the CD appealing.

The album name is in a different font to the artist name, therefore making each chunk of text stand out.

EXAMPLE 2Rihanna: I really love this example of a digipak because of the inside fold. The theme of the colour red and roses really work well together – therefore creating a very romantic/sensual atmosphere. The red lipstick and hair on Rihanna herself fits perfectly with the theme, making it attractive and successful.

Use of the male gaze: This red lipstick to make Rihanna's lips stand out help to emphasise them; therefore drawing male attention directly.

I also love the CD itself, and think that the flower theme is really successful in selling the album and also informing the artist of the genre, (pop), as it’s quite a light-hearted/girly approach.

EXAMPLE 3The use of a relatively close up picture of Taylor is a successful way of selling the artist to the audience. The simplistic use of her name in fancy font onto of the picture works alongside it to sell her and her image, as well as the different font revealing the album name so it stands out as being different.

I like the dark theme to this album digipak as it gives a glimpse of the tone of the album – which is quite low as 80% of the songs are “soppy” romance songs. This is therefore a successful way of selling the style of music to the audience too.
