ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) is a replacement recovery option for Android devices. Features include Nandroid backup, adb shell, advanced update.zip options and file browser for choosing update.zip
It works with most devices, officially or unofficially.

For phones running Android 2.3 or below,

For phones running ICS or above•Go to Developer Options
Switch on “USB Debugging” or “Android Debugging”

If it is, download the setup file.

However, it does not have a gigantic support base, so there is a large chance of your device not being supported.

Switch on usb debugging as directed
Plug your phone in and click root.There is an inbuilt option to unroot as well.
If your device is unfortunate enough to evade the support of both the previous programs, there is a high chance of it being found on the following site.

If you STILL don’t find support, check on XDA Developers’ Forum or the Google.
