Image and Sound Quality Worthy of the Name “Home Theater.”

Precisely Focused Beams of SoundAlthough it is one component, there are actually 40 small drivers and 2 woofers inside. The delay timeof each driver is controlled by a Digital SoundProcessing circuit, enabling the system to project“beams” of sound which are precisely aimed foroptimum surround soundeffect. Naturally, high qualitytwo-channel (stereo) sound canalso be reproduced, as well asthree-channel sound if desired.

Beam Mode Selection Five-Beam: All fivechannels—L , R, C, Ls andRs—are given separateorientations. Sound isbeamed off the walls tocreate the effect of asurround system with rearspeakers. Stereo: The leftand right woofers, withthe multiple beamspeakers acting astweeters, reproduce theeffect of conventionalstereo speakers. Stereo +Three-Beam: The L and Rchannels are producedusing stereo mode while C,Ls and Rs are producedusing beaming. This modeis effective when the YSP-1 placed in a corner.Three-Beam: Three beamsare produced: L+ Ls, R+ Rsand C. A surround soundeffect is created byreflecting the sound offthe walls.

Precise Calibration Produces Accurate Multi-Channel SoundYou input a variety of parameters (once only)to obtain the correct surround sound field.First, you select room size (large, medium orsmall), room shape (square or rectangular) andspeaker position (wall or corner). You can alsomake fine adjustments with precise distancesfrom the listening position. Test tones areprovided to adjust beam angles via the remotecontrol for maximum surround effect. If youwill be moving the YSP-1, there are threememory locations for storing different groupsof settings.

The YSP-1 applies sophisticated Digital Sound Projection

Technology to precisely control the orientation of the sound by

focusing it into beams. The result is true 5.1-channel surround

sound without the need for extra speakers! With 42 digital

amplifiers driving 40 4cm full-range drivers and 2 11cm woofers,

the Digital Sound Projector delivers 120W of total power with

dynamic bass response.

Multiple channels (two channels in the figure) are superimposed tocreate the sound. In a 5.1-channel configuration, the beamspeakers together create the sound of 5.1 superimposed channels.

Sound is projected at thelistener from five directions:straight ahead, reflected off onewall, and reflected off two walls(so it is heard from the rear).

LPX-510: “Natural Black” andadvanced functions for enjoyingwidescreen movies.High Performance LCD Panels The LPX-510 uses LCD panels capable of projectinghigh resolution 720p HDTV images and 10-bit videoprocessing gives it the ability to reproduce 1.07billion colors. 16:9 aspect ratiocompatibility means that widescreenmovies can be viewed in theirentirety.

3D Linear Color BalanceThe 3D Linear Color Balance function maintains theproper balance between the three signals from theLCD panels, adjusting color irregularities through arange of 15,360 correction points for accurate colorin any type of scene.

Lens Shift, Motorized Iris and Zoom Vertical and horizontal lensshift capability means thatthe projector does nothave to be positioneddirectly in front of thescreen. The motorized iriscontrol can be used toimprove contrast andfocusing, and themotorized Zoom willexpand the image up to1.5 times.

Cinema Balance FilterThe LPX-510 introduces a new Cinema BalanceFilter that enhances color reproduction whenviewing in a dark room, such as typically used formovies. It is an optical filter so dynamic range isnot affected.

Motorized Iris ControlThe motorized iris control function can be used toimprove contrast and focusing, and to give theimage a more three-dimensional feel. Settings canbe adjusted in six steps (100%—75%) and stored inthe picture memory. There are also six lamp powersettings, so the LPX-510 provides a total of 36brightness variations.

Menus Put You in Total ControlOn-screen menus present a wide range ofparameters that you canselect for initial setup andlater adjustment. You canbe sure of achieving thebestpossible picture for allconditions.

Color Balance SystemThere are three Color Balance modes: Standard,RGB for adjusting three colors, and RGBYCM foradjusting six colors. There are also six memorypresets for storing personal adjustments.

Mounting FlexibilityMounting the DPX-1200 is easy and versatile.Lens-to-screen distance can be anywhere from 9ft. 10 in. to 15 ft. 9 in. (100” screen) thanks to thepowerful 1.6x zoom lens. And the projector can beused at any height between the top and bottomof the screen.

Six User Preset MemoriesThere are six memory positions for storingdifferent combinations of parameter settings, andeach can be used for two input signals, making atotal of 12 memory conditions.

Natural Color Adjustment System• Color Balance ControlThere are three Color Balance modes. The first isthe Standard mode and cannot be adjusted. Thesecond is the RGB mode, which allows adjustmentof the red, green and blue colors by specifying xand y values for each (yellow, cyan and magentaare derived from the three main colors). The thirdmode is RGBYCM, which allows each of the sixcolors to be directly specified by entering x and ycoordinates. There are six memory presets forstoring personal adjustments.• Color Temperature AdjustmentThe correlated color temperature can be adjustedin 500k increments between 5,000k and 10,000k,for achieving accurate color fidelity. A graph onthe color temperature menu facilitates thisoperation. In order to maintain perfect colorbalance when the settings are changed, automaticcolor balance calculation/adjustment is provided.• Convenient Memory FunctionsThere are six memory positions for storingdifferent combinations of parameter settings, andeach can be used for two input signals, making atotal of 12 memory conditions. The user can storethe same parameter combination for DVD andHDTV, for example. The DPX-1200 automaticallyadjusts when the source is changed, so the userdoes not have to select a different memoryposition.

Silent OperationThe DPX-1200 runs with the quiet efficiencycustomers expect from a high quality hometheater projector. It uses effective DMD and powersupply ducting, while minimizing cooling fanoperation by continually adjusting it inaccordance with picture brightness.

Other Convenient FunctionsOther features include Smart Zoom for projecting4:3 broadcasts onto a full 16:9 screen, CinemaZoom with Zoom Up and Zoom Out foreliminating bars on the top and bottom of the16:9 screen, selectable video scan, HDMI terminal,operation status lock, lamp power selector andautomatic aspect conversion.

the amplifier circuit and the speaker terminals,caused by the cables, speaker output relays,copper circuit boards, and so on. To avoid thisproblem, we used an extra-large, low-impedancetoroidal transformer and gold-plated speaker relaycontacts. As a result, Yamaha amplifier/receiversachieve low impedance, high current power frominput (power supply circuit) to output (speakerterminals). This drives the speakers much moresmoothly and dynamically, for better sound fromall sources, including 2-channel audio.

High Grade Construction with IndependentChambers and Anti-Vibration DesignThe DSP-Z9 uses a heavy-duty, rigid chassisconstruction with separate individual chambers forleft and right power amplifiers, power supply andcontrol section to prevent any chance of internalinterference. This thick chassis also haselectromagnetic shielding. The extremely largealuminum-extruded heat sinks have anti-resonance characteristics and ensure effectiveheat dissipation. Supporting all this are Yamaha’s ToP-ART base and feet, which provide stability andfurther vibration-damping.

Digital ToP-ART ConceptDigital ToP-ART (Total Purity AudioReproduction Technology) is aYamaha product developmentphilosophy that combines advanceddigital engineering and circuit design to maximize audiosignal purity. Digital ToP-ART enables the Yamaha DigitalHome Theater Components to deliver superb sound qualityand bring out the full potential of Yamaha’s amazingCINEMA DSP technology.

High Current AmplificationAlthough power rating is often the first thing people lookat in a amplifier/receiver, high power output does notnecessarily mean good sound. High current level is a muchmore important factor, so Yamaha developed the HighCurrent Amplification system, which overcomes twoproblems common to ordinary components. The first is adifference in voltage between the power supply andamplifier circuits caused by current fluctuations. This wassolved by using custom-made, high-grade blockelectrolytic capacitors and a copper grip for one-pointgrounding. Another current drop is generally seen between

Symmetrical Power Amplifier Circuitry (DSP-Z9)The High Current Amplification system uses asymmetrical, full push-pull circuitconfiguration with a complementary FET inputstage. This ensures balanced output with nosignal interference and highest slew rate (rate at which signal changes; affects highfrequency response). Furthermore, the massivetoroidal transformer and large capacity blockelectrolytic capacitors (28,000µF) ensure aconsistently stable power supply.

Yamaha CINEMA DSP Uses Actual Sound FieldsYamaha Digital Sound Field Processing (DSP) issuperior to other surround sound systems becauseit is based on data from actual sound fields.Yamaha engineers went to famous venues aroundthe world and used a proprietarytechnique to gather acousticdata, which is stored andprocessed by powerful, custom-designed LSIs.
