What is Digital India …………..?

Digital India is an initiative by the Government

of India to ensure that Government services are made available to

citizens electronically by improving online infrastructure and by

increasing Internet connectivity.

Digital India is a central programme to make India

ready for a knowledge-based future. The focus of the Rs. 1.13

lakh crore initiative is on using technology to create a participative,

transparent and responsive government.

Google committed to provide broadband connectivity on 500 railway stations in India.

Microsoft agreed to provide broadband connectivity to five lakh villages in India and is making India its cloud hub through Indian data centres.

• Qualcomm announced to setup their plant in India.

• Qualcomm announced an investment of $150 million in

Indian start ups.

• This will be the opportunity of the work in its field in

India.

- Reliance industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said his company would invest Rs 2.5

lakh crore across different digital India heads, which help to create employment for over

five lakh people.

-He also announced setting up of the jio digital India start

up fund to encourage young entrepreneurs.

Facebook's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg changed his DP

to support Digital India and started a chain on

facebook and promised to work on WiFi Hotspots in

rural India.

Challenges: Coordination Issues.

• Program covers many other departments.• Need commitment, effort, leadership and support for success of digitalising.

Estimated costs for digitalizing:• To make digital India Rs 100,000 crores is estimated.• To implement new schemes and activities Rs 13,000 Cr is

required.

Almost 69 % of Indians have accessed internet only through

smartphone.Many people use internet only for

social networking.

But 8% is constantly active among the total population

Total no. of active mobile social media user is 92 M

But 7% is constantly active among the total population

Percentage of total social media accessing via mobile is

YesThis is possible in the event of adequate

funding, commendable co-ordination, committed efforts and corruption free

nation.

CONCLUSION

• The outcome of Digital India will produce Wi-Fi locations for people, create job, universal

phone connection, High speed internet, Digital Inclusion, e-Services, e-Governance, Digitally

motivated people, National Scholarships Portal, introduction of Digital Lockers System,

e-education and e-health making India to be pioneer in IT use solution.

• Some of the fore mentioned projects are under various stages of implementation which may

require some transformational process reengineering, refinements and adjustment of scoping

and implementation strategy to achieve the desired service level objectives by the concerned

line Ministries/Departments at the Central, State and Local Government levels.

• Digitalization will also make the better development of the people.
