Digital Map Shop User Guide v2.1 Page 1 of 6 Digital Map Shop User Guide Memory-Map’s Digital Map Shop allows you to download maps directly to your PC or mobile device. You are free to choose the area and scale of map to download anytime, day or night. Download any shape or size of map, a single big area or lots of smaller areas. Digital Map Shop works on a system of map credits, much like a Pay As You Go mobile phone, only Digital Map Shop’s credits are in the form of square kilometres (sqkm). Credit can be purchased directly through the software on your PC or mobile or via www.memory-map.co.uk Share your map credits - our latest Digital Map Shop products let you use your map credits on all your devices. Each device just uses part of your credit each time you download an area of map. How Digital Map Shop Works Digital Map Shop works in 3 steps: 1. Choose the area you would like to download 2. Choose the map you would like to download 3. Download the map to your PC or mobile device Digital Map Shop maps require activation on each and every device you use them on. When you purchase a Digital Map Shop product, you get a bank of credit to activate on PC platforms and the bank of credit again to activate on mobile device platforms (unless of course you purchase Mobile Only, in which case you only get a bank of credit for mobile devices). This means that each device will require a deduction of sqkm from the relevant bank in order to activate the desired map area. How to use Digital Map Shop on your PC All Digital Map Shop maps start as a blank canvas for you to download the area, or areas, of maps that you need as and when you need them. This blank canvas is in fact an empty map of the country you are downloading maps for, with the squares or chunks on it indicating the map tiles that will be downloaded upon request. Please follow the instructions below to get started with Digital Map Shop. 1. Check that you have the most recent version of Memory-Map installed. To do this, start Memory-Map and click the menu option Web > Check for Updates and follow the onscreen instructions. 2. The next step is to use a base map to choose the area you would like to download in more detailed mapping. The base map available to you will depend on whether you have any existing Memory-Map products for that area, or are new to Memory-Map. If you have purchased your Digital Map Shop product on disc then a base map (usually a road map) will have been included on the disc. Click the Map button on the toolbar and select the base map from the list to begin. If you have downloaded the software from our website and wish to purchase credit directly through the software you can download a base map from www.memory-map.co.uk What is a base map? A base map is a map you can use to draw routes around the areas you wish to download. For most users the base map will generally be a road map or route planner that covers the whole country. If you are an existing user then you may already have more detailed mapping for the areas you wish to download, and so can use this map to choose your area.

How to use Digital Map Shop on your PC

All Digital Map Shop maps start as a blank canvas for you to download the area, or areas, of maps that you need as and when you need them.

If you have downloaded the software from our website and wish to purchase credit directly through the software you can download a base map from www.memory-map.co.uk

What is a base map? A base map is a map you can use to draw routes around the areas you wish to download. For most users the base map will generally be a road map or route planner that covers the whole country. If you are an existing user then you may already have more detailed mapping for the areas you wish to download, and so can use this map to choose your area.

3. Open your chosen base map and click on the Route button on the toolbar. Now, draw a route around the area you would like to download your map. The route must be an enclosed route meaning the last waypoint must finish exactly on top of the first one.

4. Once you have created your route, right-click on one of the legs

(the blue line) of the route and choose Digital Map Shop from the menu.

Note: If Digital Map Shop is greyed out and not selectable, this will be because your route is not an enclosed route. Right-click on the route and click Delete and then draw the route again.

5. A list of maps will appear showing maps that can be downloaded for your chosen area. Pick the map that corresponds with the product you have purchased (or wish to purchase) and click Continue.

6. Sign into your Memory-Map account if prompted to do so. If you are new to Memory-Map or just have updated your software and do not yet have an account click the Create New Account button, otherwise sign into your Memory-Map account and follow the onscreen instructions.

7. Once you are signed into your account the Activation window will be displayed, similar to the one below:

8. If you have purchased a Digital Map Shop product on disc then click Register A Serial Number. Your credit is then

allocated to your account. If you do not have a serial number and wish to purchase credit directly through the software, click Buy Now and follow the onscreen instructions.

9. If you are happy this is the area you want to download click the Activate button and the map will be downloaded and the credit used deducted from your account. If the Activate button is not visible then this will mean you do not have enough credit to download the area you have selected. Either click Cancel and resize your area or purchase more credit.

Important: It is not possible to refund or recover credit once you click the Activate button, so ensure this is the area you want to download before proceeding.
