Internship Opportunity TeachUp! Interns/AmeriCorps Members offer learning and technology skill upgrading opportunities to two beneficiaries: teachers and community members. The TeachUp! Intern works 20 hours per week in an assigned school, assisting teachers to maximize learning through technology and working one-on-one with teachers to integrate technology into classroom lessons and activities to better engage students. The TeachUp! Intern also works 10 hours per week in Community Learning Centers, where they work with community members on technology skills that can enhance their lives with employment, health care, and education. Finally, the TeachUp! Intern works 10 hours per week as Flex Time, where they conduct research for teachers, attend professional development training sessions, and prepare and conduct training sessions for community businesses and organizations. Each Intern is responsible for three core tasks in the school: supporting teachers' use of technology, consulting with teachers on tasks that apply technology in the classroom, and leading knowledge sharing activities. They are also responsible for two core tasks in the Community Learning Centers: supporting community members’ use of technology that will enhance every area of their lives and teaching them technology skills in order for them to become technologically independent. + Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) USA, through its innovative TeachUp! Program, recruits, selects and trains technology savvy individuals as Interns, who will work in schools and community learning centers to empower educators and community members in the use of 21 st Century Technology. By seamlessly integrating technology into learning, DOT USA, in partnership with AmeriCorps, hopes to deliver a richer educational experience to students and teachers in Mississippi and Louisiana. However, the impact of the TeachUp! Program will not be merely confined to schools; instead, it is DOT USA’s steadfast belief that enhanced student outcomes through the TeachUp! Program will create more successful communities.
