1 Safety Precautions1. Before servicing, unplug the AC power cord to prevent an electric shock.2. When replacing parts, use only the manufacturer's recommended components.3. Check the condition of the power cord. Replace if wear or damage is evident.4. After servicing, be sure to restore the lead dress, insulation barriers, insulation papers, shields, etc.5. Before returning the serviced equipment to the customer, be sure to perform the following insulation resistance test to prevent
the customer from being exposed to shock hazards.
1.1. For Service Technicians • Repair service shall be provided in accordance with repair technology information such as service manual so as to prevent fires,
injury or electric shock, which can be caused by improper repair work.1. When repair services are provided, neither the products nor their parts or members shall be remodeled.2. If a lead wire assembly is supplied as a repair part, the lead wire assembly shall be replaced.3. FASTON terminals shall be plugged straight in and unplugged straight out.
• ICs and LSIs are vulnerable to static electricity.When repairing, the following precautions will help prevent recurring malfunctions.
1. Cover plastic parts boxes with aluminum foil.2. Ground the soldering irons.3. Use a conductive mat on worktable.4. Do not grasp IC or LSI pins with bare fingers.

2 Warning
2.1. About Lead Free Solder (PbF: Pb free)Note:
In the information below, Pb, the symbol for lead in the periodic table of elements, will refer to standard solder or solder thatcontains lead.
We will use PbF solder when discussing the lead free solder used in our manufacturing process which is made from Tin (Sn),Silver (Ag), and Copper (Cu).
This model, and others like it, manufactured using lead free solder will have PbF stamped on the PCB. For service and repairwork we suggest using the same type of solder.
Caution• PbF solder has a melting point that is 50 F ~ 70 F (30 C ~ 40 C) higher than Pb solder. Please use a soldering iron with
temperature control and adjust it to 700 F ± 20 F (370 C ± 10 C).• Exercise care while using higher temperature soldering irons.:
Do not heat the PCB for too long time in order to prevent solder splash or damage to the PCB.• PbF solder will tend to splash if it is heated much higher than its melting point, approximately 1100 F (600 C).• When applying PbF solder to double layered boards, please check the component side for excess which may flow onto the
opposite side (See the figure below).
2.1.1. Suggested PbF SolderThere are several types of PbF solder available commercially. While this product is manufactured using Tin, Silver, and Copper,(Sn+Ag+Cu), you can also use Tin and Copper, (Sn+Cu), or Tin, Zinc, and Bismuth, (Sn+Zn+Bi). Please check the manufacturer's specific instructions for the melting points of their products and any precautions for using their product with other materials. The following lead free (PbF) solder wire sizes are recommended for service of this product: 0.3mm, 0.6mm and 1.0mm.
2.2. Discarding of P. C. BoardWhen discarding P. C. Board, delete all personal information such as telephone directory and caller list or scrap P. C. Board.

4.2. Circuit Operations
4.2.1. LCD CircuitLCD data are output from pin 66 of IC410 to LCD module.LCD contrast is set by electronic volume in LCD module.VCC33 (+3.3V) of the power supply voltage is pressurized about four/three times in the LCD module and used as LCD driving volt-age (approx. 13.8V(KX-DT546) / 10.0V(KX-DT543).)The driving voltage is observed between pin 12 (V0) and pin 13(XV0) of CN460.
The lighting of the backlight is controlled by Q460.The power of the backlight is output from DOUT4V5 of IC410.
4.2.2. Reset CircuitIC410 (DCX81) is reset internally by itself when power is supplied.Reset Signal is output from IC410 and input into IC300 (pin 1) ,CN460 (pin 5) and IC150 (pin 41).

4.2.3. Data CommunicationFunction
The data communication circuit serves the following functions:Information exchanger between PBX and proprietary telephone, key input information as well as data for the LED control, LCDcontrol, voice data, etc. This information is continuously exchanged at all times.
Circuit OperationThe data from PBX is input to the comparator (pin 27) built in IC300 through Pulse Trans T300. The threshold voltage of thecomparator is determined by R306, R307 and R308. It is input into pin 26 and 28 of IC300.The data to PBX is output from pin 32 and 33 of IC300, drives T300 by Transistor Q301 and transmitted.

4.2.4. DXDP CommunicationFunction:
This circuit performs the same type of communication as between the DPT and PBX, but a slave DPT for DXDP is connected tothe DXDP port.In addition, it controls power feeding for a slave DPT.
Circuit Operation:The data to the slave DPT is output from pins 47 and 48 of IC300 and sent via “Q331C331” and “Q332C337” to JK301.The data from the slave DPT is sent through “C337R350” and is input to the comparator (pin 22) built in IC300.The threshold voltage of the comparator is determined by R353, R354 and R355. It is input into pin 21 and 23 of IC300.
Power is controlled to the Slave DPT by means of a constant current circuit Q303 and Q304 as below:• IC300 pin 20 H: Constant current circuit ON.• IC300 pin 20 L: Constant current circuit OFF.• IC300 pin 25 H: 40mA feed (normal supply to Slave DPT).• IC300 pin 25 L: 20mA feed (initial supply to Slave DPT).

4.2.7. ASIC (IC150)IC150 controls KEY, LED, EHS and Headset-detect.An operation clock is provided from IC300. IC410 controls reset signal (L(0V): Reset) for IC150.IC150 and IC410 are connected via I2C interface.IC410 checks the presence of IC150 by getting the signal from IC150.

The HOOK key is independent from Key Scan Matrix and taken into the port singularly.

7 Test Mode7.1. Function Test Mode
7.1.1. PreparationPreparation device
• Unit for Test phone• PBX (including DLC or DHLC)
Set up unit in test mode by key control1. Connect DLC or DHLC (power on) while pressing "1","*" and "CONF" keys at the same time.
Keep pressing about 5 seconds.2. All red LED turn on and beep sounds is heard.3. After the LCD displays [HOOK Test] on LCD, release keys.
7.1.2. KEYs and LEDs Test1. Then the LCD displays [HOOK Test].
(When skip [HOOK Test], Press SP-PHONE key. )The SP-PHONE LED is on/off according to HOOK switch.Press SP-PHONE key.

10.2. How To Replace a Flat Package ICEven if you do not have the special tools (for example, a spot heater) to remove the Flat IC, with some solder (large amount), a sol-dering iron and a cutter knife, you can easily remove the ICs that have more than 100 pins.
10.2.1. Preparation• PbF (: Pb free) Solder• Soldering Iron
Tip Temperature of 700F ± 20F (370C ± 10C)Note: We recommend a 30 to 40 Watt soldering iron. Anexpert may be able to use a 60 to 80 Watt iron where some-one with less experience could overheat and damage thePCB foil.
• FluxRecommended Flux: Specific Gravity 0.82.Type RMA (lower residue, non-cleaning type)Note: See About Lead Free Solder (PbF: Pb free) (P.4).
10.2.2. Removal Procedure1. Put plenty of solder on the IC pins so that the pins can be
completely covered.Note:
If the IC pins are not soldered enough, you may givepressure to the P.C. board when cutting the pins witha cutter.
2. Make a few cuts into the joint (between the IC and itspins) first and then cut off the pins thoroughly.
3. While the solder melts, remove it together with the ICpins.
When you attach a new IC to the board, remove all solderleft on the land with some tools like a soldering wire. If somesolder is left at the joint on the board, the new IC will not beattached properly.
10.2.3. Procedure1. Tack the flat pack IC to the PCB by temporarily soldering
two diagonally opposite pins in the correct positions onthe PCB.
Be certain each pin is located over the correct pad on the PCB.
2. Apply flux to all of the pins on the IC.
3. Being careful to not unsolder the tack points, slide the sol-dering iron along the tips of the pins while feeding enoughsolder to the tip so that it flows under the pins as they areheated.
10.2.4. Removing Solder From BetweenPins
1. Add a small amount of solder to the bridged pins.2. With a hot iron, use a sweeping motion along the flat part
of the pin to draw the solder from between the adjacentpads.
