Almighty God, You have made us for Yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in You.

Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. (Rev. 2:10)

SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY

HEME: CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES

TOPIC: MARITAL CHALLENGES

TEXT: I SAM. 1:1-8; JN. 4:16-18; 8:1-5; ACTS 21:8-9

AIM: To find a healthy approach to tackle the challenges of

Marriage many people face today.

INTRODUCTION:

This study shall address three different challenges such as delayed marriage (when matured persons do

not meet their life partners early), infertility (when married persons do not have children), and infidelity

(adultery, unfaithfulness in marriage).

STUDY GUIDE:

1. Identify challenges to marriage in today's Bible study texts.

2. What is the difference between the two cases in John 4:16-18 and

Acts 21:8, 9?

3. From John 8:1-11, how should the Church best respond to cases of infidelity in marriage? See

also Matt. 18:15-17; 6:14, 15 and note John 8:7.

4. “No seemingly barren Christian woman should lose hope; rather, they should continue to trust

the Lord for their visitation”. Discuss this statement in the light of I Sam. 1:5-6, 10-20; Judges 13:2-3, 24;

Luke 1:5-7, 11-20, 24-25; Jer. 32:27.

5. Share any testimony of God's intervention in delayed marriage and childbearing in our days.

God cannot be late.

CONCLUSION:

This study should encourage women who are married that the four daughters of a great servant of God,

Philip were spirit-filled and gifted, but had not yet married! Their example should also draw attention to

the fact that being unmarried is no license to impure and immoral lifestyle. In scriptures, all the cases of

barrenness that involved children of God in the scriptures ended with good testimonies. As Christians,

we should never lose hope as long as we remain faithful to the Lord.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

Only God holds the destinies of His children in His Hands.

MEMORY VERSE: JER. 32:27

"Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?

MEDITATION FOR THE WEEK

INDISPENSABLE CHRISTIAN LIFE

Text: Colossians 3:17

“And whatsoever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks

to God the Father through Him”.

Those in Christ are seated with Him now in heaven their lives being hidden in Him. They will be revealed

with Him at His coming in glory. (vs. 3-4). Consequently, God admonished us to hate sin: fornication,

adultery, abortion, murder, bribery, etc. God's wrath is coming upon those who defy God's law. (Col.3:1-

9). God's people in Christ are enjoined to live holy lives.

In verse 17, the Bible summarizes the whole life expected of God's children. The implication is:

(1) As a civil servant, do not lie when signing attendance register. Work before

expecting to be paid salary, not vice versa.

(2) As a Pastor, do not steal God's money under any pretext.

(3) As a trader, do not trade in false goods or sell with false scales.

(4) As a teacher, do not use intimidation to extract unrighteous advantage from the

opposite sex to pass your papers.

(5) As a military or law enforcement agent, do not use intimidation to take someone's

property.

(6) As a judge, do not give judgments based on favoritism or bribery.

Do everything to honour The Lord Jesus Christ. If not, you are an anti-Christ who is dishonouring Him

who died on the cross for your sins. God's wrath is coming upon those who made such choice. But

abundant life awaits all who obey.

The Almighty God will help us to lead a life that is pleasing to Him always. Amen.
