Good Samaritan Box: Did you know that we have a food box at every entrance of the church?

These boxes are to help Good Sam’s with giving out food to the poor. Bring your can goods, flour, sugar etc and place in the box. Lets help feed the hun-

gry in our community. If you would like to give a monetary donation, our Poor Box is located at the front entrance of the church. Thank You for your

help.

FIRST FRIDAYS

Every First Friday of the month we will have 8:30 a.m. Mass and adoration to follow until 6:30 p.m. with Solemn Blessing of the Blessed Sacrament and Pro-Life Mass followed by the Rosary. This Mass will give the faithful a chance to receive commun-ion at either Mass in order to observe this devotion. The other Fridays of the month we will extend the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 7:00 p.m. Reminder!!! The Rosary will be prayed every First Weekend of the month, 25 minutes before Mass. If you are interested in praying the Rosary, please contact Mary Lane at 440-0419

Eucharistic Adoration: We are all called to be Holy. As we have learned in the Rediscovering Catholicism book, holy is not a limiting thing. Rather, holy is a pure freedom to be best-version-of-our selves. This is something that we can only be with the help of God's grace. The Saints and our Holy Father, Pope Fran-cis show us that that adoration of the Blessed Sac-rament can be instrumental in helping us keep Jesus in the center of our lives. Adoration every Fri. 9am to 7pm.

LITURGY COURSE OCTOBER 19TH, 2019 at PEC

The Liturgy course, is the next segment in the Faith Formation Basic Course, according to School Sister of Notre Dame Sister Maria Elena Ferrer, diocesan coordinator of Faith Formation. The course will be

offered from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the PEC. Brody Britten will be the facilitator in English, with Sister Maria Elena Ferrer the instruction

in Spanish.

The Diocese of Amarillo requires two years of preparation for the sacrament of First Eucharist. As of October 3rd of this year in our Faith Formation program we have 246 children and youth registered and there are 99 preparing for a sacrament. Twenty-nine catechists are sharing their faith and are involved in the Faith Formation program. During October & November Faith Formation will having their safe environment classes for all the children and youth. Parents thank you for making the effort to bring your children on time. It is very important that they do not disrupt the class and they get all the information possible during that hour.

SCRIPTURE INSIGHTS Today’s readings offer two examples of people whose lives were transformed through miraculous healings and return to give thanks. In the First Reading, the leper, Naaman, is a army com-mander who was healed of his disease. Despite his initial reluc-tance, he followed the prophet Elisha’s instructions and bathed in the Jordan River seven times. Instead of returning home, he first sought our Elisha to thank him and offer him a reward. Elisha declined his gift but allowed Naaman to take home some earth to build a shrine to the God of Israel. Naaman found faith as well as healing. In a similar way, in the Gospel, Jesus heals ten lepers (nine Isra-elites and one Samaritan) but only one returns to give Jesus thanks, “Where are the other nine/ Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?” Not only does this foreigner, a Samaritan, find healing, he finds faith. In both readings, a foreigner returns to give thanks. In both read-ings, their healings lead to thankfulness that generates faith. Their physical healing is an external manifestation of their spir-itual healing. Jesus deliberately drew attention to that faith of this Samaritan to illustrate that faith and salvation in Jesus Christ extend beyond the borders of Israel to all people. As Paul states in the Second Reading, “The word of God is not chained.” Faith, salvation, thanksgiving, all are intimately connected in today’s readings as they are in the Eucharist that we celebrate. Read all the full account of the healing of Naaman in 2 Kings 5:1-17. What do you notice about the gradual transformation of Naaman’s faith? While imprisoned, Paul says that the “word of God is not chained.” What does he mean? The two healings illustrate how God is found in suffering. Have you experienced a deepening of God’s presence during suffering?

PRACTICE OF FAITH Today’s readings urge us to be as the healed leper, glorifying God with praise and thanksgiving. Jesus tells us that the King-dom of God is already among us, but to see it we need eyes of faith and a grateful. Count the ways God loves you by staring a gratitude journal. Each day, try to notice and record these things for which you are grateful. If you are too busy to keep a journal but want to cultivate a grateful heart, tips can be found at CatholicMom.com
