Organizers Executive Training Program IBRACH - TSINGHUA Sep 10th – 14th, 2018 School of Public Policy and Management Tsinghua University Beijing, China DIRECTIONS OF THE CHINESE ECONOMY TODAY is the fifth edition of a successful Executive Training Program promoted by the Institute for Brazil and China Studies (IBRACH) and the School of Public Policy and Management of Tsinghua University in Beijing. e program is designed for public and private managers engaged with China. Our objective is to offer the means for a strategic understanding of the Chinese global economy today and the challenges of redirecting its prime drivers of growth. e program includes master classes from renowned professors from Tsinghua University, panels of specialists and visits to think tanks and innovative enterprises. Tsinghua University, partner of IBRACH, is one of the most renowned universities of China. Key political and business leaders of the country have emerged from its ranks. e School of Public Policy and Management, currently directed by Professor Xue Lan, congregates professors and researchers in a wide range of disciplines and has been active in the process of formulating policy strategies and evaluation in China. e 2018 edition will give an update on China’s economic performance and look into the government reforms which followed the 19th Party Congress, in particular those regarding executive reforms and the creation of new ministries. e program will discuss current directions and tools of the financing system and look into innovation policies and the implementation of China 2025 program. Directions of the Chinese Economy Today Special attention will be given to geopolitical concerns such as current directions of China’s proactive foreign policy, status of the Belt and Road program and the implications of US trade policy for China’s development program. Research areas: science & technology policy, industrial development and environmental governance, policy-making. Cui Zhiyuan - PhD in Political Science from Chicago University, is a professor at the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University. Leading intellectual in governance innovation with international research on political economy and govern- ment innovation. Hu Angang - Director of Center for China Studies, Tsinghua University. He is one of the most well-known policy advisers and Chinese economists active in China’s reform and development. Liang Zheng - Vice Director of Center Institute for Science and Technology Policy, Tsinghua University.
