Punum’s Desk…
Our doors opened on August 22nd, 2011 and the children have not only settled in but have made tremendous strides in becoming independent, responsible citizens. As Montessori teachers, we start the school year by teaching grace and courtesy to the children. We know the importance of these activities as they serve as tools for functioning in the classroom, using the materials and interacting respectfully with others. Our children have learned quickly to use “walking feet” and “inside voices”. They walk around a rug; wait patiently for material to be returned to the shelf and know how to politely interrupt. Montessori schools prepare children to become citizens of the world and it begins with grace and courtesy in their own environments at home and school.
Chinese Moon Festival
The Festival of the Mid-autumn Moon will be celebrated on September 12th. The day is traditionally dedicated to giving thanks to the Moon Goddess and celebrating the value of family and togetherness. We will be sampling moon cakes as well!
