The College, Swansea University This exciting new role is Director of Channel, Innovation and Brand at The College, Swansea University which is a joint venture between Swansea University and Navitas.

Role Description The College, Swansea University is seeking to employ an experienced Director to join the team and lead the development of a newly launched college brand across a portfolio of new and existing products and developing new routes and channel to market. Working closely with the CEO and College Director / Principal this exciting new role will deliver a host of new business initiatives that are currently under development, whilst maintaining strategic oversight and accountability for the core business of the pathway college. The new iniatives will initially focus around transnational education and developing new routes to market and new market segments of pathway students – so candidates with relevant experience in these areas would be particularly encouraged to get in touch. As such, it is an exciting new opportunity for an experienced marketing professional who is adept at prioritising and delivering across a portfolio of activities. The purpose of the role: To create, plan, direct and coordinate marketing /brand building activities, including determining the
demand for existing and new products and services offered by the college and its competitors, and identifying potential students,
customers and clients. This involves developing strategies with the goal of ensuring student recruitment and customer/ client
satisfaction targets are hit and profits (or share of the market) is maximised for The College.
There are 4 areas of accountability and focus: 1) Drive the growth of the pathway core business. This involves the development and management of the pathway value proposition in new and existing markets and the proactive development of business cases for new products, new markets and creative new routes to direct student recruitment. The successful candidate must demonstrate skillful relationship management in a complex matrix structure with a flair for motivating and influencing domestic and international partners to recruit students. 2) The ability to generate agreed levels of ROI by leveraging product mix, costs of acquisition and meeting sales targets. This involves taking ‘ownership’ of pricing decisions and scholarships offered, marketing spend (at a product level) and project implementation plans to maximise income, optimise cost and realise profit targets. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong degree of financial literacy and a record of accomplishment in taking a strategic approach to marketing initiatives. 3) Taking new business initiatives to market, in line with the strategy agreed by the Board. This involves developing robust and innovative commercial plans for each new product – starting with a series of transnational education opportunities. The job holder will create and own value propositions for all product lines and meet sales targets through B2C and B2B channels. 4) The ongoing management of the product portfolio and recruitment from a variety of demographics for each product line. This involves identifying and deploying a variety of channels to market and will require experience of international, domestic, B2C and B2B approaches with close management of agents and key accounts. Because of the evolving variation in the product portfolio the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a breadth of portfolio
management experience, and certainly able to evidence a commitment to ongoing continuous professional development (CPD) with
a demonstrable understanding of new and evolving channels (Digital initiatives / Social Media Trends etc). The successful candidate
will support and nurture new products whilst managing more mature products through the development lifecycle and thereby create
a balanced portfolio across a number of different axis such as product diversity, product/market maturity, product innovation and
market penetration etc
The ideal candidate will have skills in the area of communication, influence and partnership management. They will need to
demonstrate high-level interpersonal skills; ideally having marketing and recruitment experience in education services or training
provision and able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of The UK H.E. system.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Five (5) years of senior management Product or Portfolio Marketing
experience and a demonstrable record of continuous professional
development (CPD) with a focus on emerging trends in marketing and
brand management.
Strategic Partnership Management experience including working across
culturally diverse markets and stakeholder management within a matrix
environment
Experience of global student or client recruitment
Possess relevant postgraduate qualifications in marketing
Global Brand Creation & Management experience with experience in
budget development, management and reporting
Both B2B and B2C product marketing experience
Developing and managing the product portfolio roadmaps
Synthesizing all internal and external stakeholder input on features and
priorities
Be able to communicate a market position that is differentiated, clear,
defensible and profitable
Desirable
Welsh or Arabic or Chinese speaker
Experience in the education export business
Previous work with domestic & international students, understanding and the need for best practice levels of care, advice and support particularly when students are taught in their home country.

The College offers pathway programs to international students and is developing an exciting new portfolio of additional and synergistic products and services to support its ambitious growth plans. Currently based on the Singleton Campus of Swansea University, The College will move to a brand new and purpose built Academic building on the Bay Campus in the Autumn of 2018.
