International Center for Caspian Studies, based in Brussels, is a non-governmental research organization dedicated to the examination of the economic, social and geopolitical issues of the Caspian Sea Region. Its special focus is on analyzing a wide-range of issues related to the development of the oil and energy resources in the region and its impact on the economic, political and social fabric of the whole Caspian area. The role of the ICCS is to inform and educate the public and all

ICHD program’s duration: 2 years. 3)HIV/AIDS Prevention Program (HAPP) In July 2003
IMC started implementation of the HAPP under the BTC Community Investment Programme. The HAPP is aimed at responding to the growing need for training and educational activities to prevent the spread and to minimize the risk of infection of sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) and HIV/AIDS amongst both the community populations in close proximity to temporary work camps and the AGT Pipelines Project route and both Company and Contractor personnel. Duration of the project: 2 years 4)Emergency Medicine Development Initiative (EMDI) In February 2004 IMC designed and launched the Emergency Medicine Development Initiative (EMDI), the project that would have a long lasting, positive impact on the lives of people living in the northern region of Azerbaijan and areas affected by the BTC/SCP pipeline. The goal of the EMDI is to improve emergency service in Azerbaijan. The program aims to improve patient outcomes and access
to high quality emergency medical care, provided by well-trained and equipped physicians and nurses. The funding support for EMDI is provided by Amerada Hess. 5)Garadag Community Assistance Program (GCAP) IMC designed special assistance program to meet the most urgent health and educational needs for the communities within Garadag district of Apsheron peninsula. The GCAP will be implemented throughout the district of Garadag over a period of eighteen months benefiting 105,000 people. The GCAP is funded by ACG/AIOC projects. The GCAP was launched in March 2005 and has duration of 18 months. 6)The Rural Inclusive Education Program (RIED program) To address the need for inclusive education services in rural areas, IMC has designed The Rural Inclusive Education Program. The overall goal of the RIED program is to mainstream disabled children into society and ensure that a competent, viable and
responsive support system is created so that children with disabilities are able to reach their full potential. The GCAP was launched in February 2005 and has duration of 12 months. 7)The Vision Project UNOCAL and BTC/SCP co. pipeline project, provide funding support to International Medical Corps and Caspian Compassion Project to implement the Vision Project in Azerbaijan. The Vision Project funded by BTC/SCP partners and UNOCAL. The program will provide free eye examinations for 2,250 people as well as eye surgery and treatment for those who require it. The Vision Project was launched in July 2004 and has duration of 15 months. 8)Technical Assistance:Funded by various short term contracts - feasibility assessments; health and social surveys; technical design of medical infrastructure
