The Mesa Schools Multicultural Education Directory of Resources

The Mesa School District has numerous multicultural educational resources available for teacher use. Resources can be located by researching the following MPS web sites:

1) English Language Acquisition Department, www.mpsaz.org/sel 2) Native American Education Program, www.mpsaz.org/naep 3) Creative and Performing Arts Department, www.mpsaz.org/arts 4) Mesa Schools Educational Television. Department, www.mpsaz.org/it 5) Diversity Specialist, www.mpsaz.org/stusvcs/guidance 6) Professional Development, www.mpsaz.org/profdev

There are also vast amounts of resources for educator use outside of the school district. Thus, the Mesa Schools Multicultural Education Resources Directory has been created for those educators who seek to incorporate cultural diversity into the school curriculum and enhance their teaching or counseling strategies through intercultural proficiency.

These resources are intended for use with the K12 student population. A brief description of the sites listed in the directory is provided. As with all outside resources, the user should ensure that the information is conducive with the Arizona State Standards and the Mesa School District Standards. If you are unsure, please consult your school administrator.

We hope these instructional resources will benefit each educator and his/her students as they prepare to work and live within a culturally diverse community.

“ Assist students in understanding and appreciating their own heritage, as well as people of different cultural, social and ethnic groups.”
