From the outset, DIRTT product

design developed using three

premises:

• Focus must always be on

providing sustainable solutions,

either from a material or

behavioral perspective.

• The environment must be fully

responsive to both aesthetic

and functional needs, at

point of creation and over

time, without concern for

compatibility.

• Our work will never be done. At

no point will the product cease

to evolve.

Adopting these simple

directives drove the product

solution to be indifferent to the

future, to have radical aesthetic

variability, and to continue to

adapt and evolve in response to

market and end-user needs.

COMPATIBILITY

We have been fortunate to

have taken an approach

that contemplates change from

a different perspective. Rather

than attempt to predict the future,

our solution was developed with

the assumption that the future is

uncertain and impossible to predict.

Because of this, all design activity

focuses on interface between

objects in the environment, much

like behaviors found in LEGO™.

Any two blocks in LEGO connect

because they have a standardized

interface and are not concerned

with what they connect to. Simple;

but critical.

Fundamentally, as soon as

an object cares about what

it connects to its future use

is greatly limited. The goal of

creating sustainable environments

demands that whatever we create

cannot be concerned about

what’s coming next. This approach

assures not only compatibility over

time, but the ability to evolve the

environment significantly without

concern as well.

Regardless of the module types

we develop in the future, we

can be certain of their compatibility

to anything made in the history of

the company. As radically different

products like toasters, radios, and

vacuum cleaners all connect to

the world in the same way, so too

do all of our modules connect to

each other. We have developed

an interface that will never

change, and will forever ensure

sustainability.

THE PRODUCT IN THE FUTURE

It is impossible to predict the future

of the DIRTT environment. It is fair

to say, any environment asked to

respond to technological change

cannot be rooted in a narrow

perspective. This acceptance of

uncertainty gives freedom to the

future state of DIRTT, allowing our

solutions to respond to whatever

comes our way. Having said that,

there are areas of focus in the near

term:

• As society turns its focus to the

issue of the environment, so too

have manufacturers evolved.

In many cases manufacturing

processes have changed, as

in the case of formaldehyde-

free and renewable substrates,

or new ones invented as in

the use of recycled cotton in

high-performance insulation.

of the DIRTT environment,

DIRTT Design Team leverages

significant experience and

expertise in the integration

of technology in the built

environment. DIRTT is pursuing

solutions that fully unify

communication, display, and

interface technologies into

our products. Modular data,

modular power, large format

rear projection displays, and

sound masking are some of the

technologies we are focusing

on, among others. As the world

evolves, so too does DIRTT.

It’s a videogame for design – with brains for business.

exploration of your design. Everyone is on the same

page and understands the big picture. Meanwhile,

behind the scenes your design is instantly calculated

into the parts, pieces, connections and pricing.

Changing it? even in 3D?

Not a problem. ICE automatically updates every

aspect. Ultimately, that information goes to

the DIRTT factory where your Walls are precisely

manufactured without human interpretation.

The parametric nature of the Walls means you

further design them to suit your building, your

furniture and your culture. Using DIRTT’s intelligent, 3D

software called ICE®, you experience your space in

real-time, interactive 3D and modify it to create the

exact space you want. Every change you make is

automatically updated in the quote, specification

and production information.

As it always does, technology will change. DIRTT

Walls are impervious to change. Universal

mounting abilities – inside and outside the Walls –

mean whatever comes next will fit without demolition

and rebuilding with all the attendant noise, material

disposal and energy waste.

DIRTT Walls do not predict the future. They just go with

it.

T E C H N O L O G Y A P P L I C A T I O N S

The DIRTT Floor is a low-profile floor. At just two and

five-eights inches high it doesn’t support HVAC

, but it does support adaptable power and data

infrastructures. In some cases, where ceiling conditions

are limiting, a low-profile floor is the only choice.

The clever design of the DIRTT Floor components

makes it straightforward to install.

Once in place, the sub-trades simply open the

pathways and lay down their cables thereby

lowering labor hours. This is compared to going up

and down ladders and feeding wires into trays in the

ceiling.

No matter the brand of floor, the smartest

approach is to fill it with modular power and

data solutions.

F L O O R S

Our favorite is the sliding door. It’s quiet, doesn’t need a floor track, quick to install, smooth and easy to

operate, offers amazing acoustics, is non-handed, plus it saves square feet like there’s no tomorrow. Our

sliding doors can be solid, framed glass, frameless glass and double. But we know there is a place in the world for

other kinds of doors, so we also have very nice pivot and butt hinge doors.

It is the little things make our Sliding Doors such a great choice. Acoustic seals, ADA compliant pulls, discreet little

feet to hold the door firm to the wall, the ability to put it inside or outside the room and flip it around if that room

gets reconfigured.

Our Pivot Doors also come in framed or frameless glass, solid and double, they also are available with

automatic closers. Plus we developed a daring Center Pivot Door that is simply clean, elegant fun.

The workhorse Butt Hinge door can be sourced locally and we will simply supply the hardware. Lock hardware

and/or signage options are available for each door type.

A drawer that shuts itself. A credenza hanging off the floor. An overhead that is the perfect fit…these are little

DIRTT Millwork is fully customizable, modular cabinetry. Just like built in situ millwork, you can create the perfect

piece to fit the perfect space. Unlike conventional millwork, DIRTT Millwork offers a set price, a fast lead-time,

smooth install and long-term agility.

Finishes and shapes are determined by the designer to suit the space. Using ICE® software, the designer

designs while the software specifies, prices and produces manufacturing information. The perfect piece is

In conventional construction the refreshment area often becomes a casualty of cost and/or schedule overruns.

Then it is downgraded or eliminated. By choosing DIRTT Walls for this aspect of your project you ensure results

The little things can make a big difference. DIRTT

Accessories are just those little things. They provide

everything from a place to store CDs to a vase for a

flower to brighten your day. Nearly all the Accessories

slip neatly into any horizontal extrusion you see on any

DIRTT Wall.

A C C E S S O R I E S

Build as Drawn is a term used to describe the finished

work of the installation crew. All price quotations

were based on the number of hours to build and layout

the furniture as shown on the installation drawing.

Change Orders are required to do any work not in

the original scope of the installation quotation.

This could be additional work not part of the original

work order or a request to change the build as drawn

specification to some other variation. Generally, all

changes to the scope of work are billable at the time

and materials rate. Completion of change order

work is based on crew availability and may require

rescheduling.

Power and Data work is not completed by furniture

installation personnel. This is due to code restrictions

and the need for certifiable data connections. It is

the customer’s responsibility to order this work from

independent contractors.
